Is the Xbox Series X the console to buy? In the current gaming landscape, there are a variety of options for consoles. Many upcoming games will be coming out for the Xbox One. But does the Xbox Series X’s powerful hardware warrant the upgrade? Moreover, what is the Xbox Lockhart, and is the PS5 a better option? Here are five reasons to buy the Xbox Series X (and five reasons to skip it).

10 It’s A New Generation (Reason To Buy)

A new generation means that Xbox has a blank slate to rewrite. The Xbox Series X could be a game changer that brings innovations and new promises for its players. So far, the console appears boxier than ever before. The controller, however, hasn’t changed that much. Aside from a textured D-Pad and an ergonomic size for smaller hands, the new controller looks familiar. Nevertheless, gamers will reserve their opinions until this winter when the Xbox Series X releases.

9 Few Real Exclusives (Skip It)

While many people will be disappointed that Xbox Series X has few real exclusives, wider availability is positive. Including games like Halo Infinite, Fable 4, State of Decay 3, Forza Motorsport, and The Gunk, there will be an abundance of games releasing for both the Xbox Series X and PC. At least Microsoft is giving us the option to choose Xbox Series X or PC. If these games somehow end up on PS5, Xbox Series X might become less relevant.

8 Xbox Game Pass (Reason To Buy)

The resounding thought that’s on everyone’s mind is Xbox Game Pass. Xbox fans are rejoicing over the extensive library that Game Pass has amassed. This leaves PlayStation owners vexed over what they could have.

Xbox Game Pass is a viable means for Microsoft to make a profit while delivering an attractive game service for players. The first reason to buy an Xbox Series X is Xbox Game Pass. First-party games are added to Xbox Game Pass day one, so there’s little reason to wait.

7 PS5 (Skip It)

The Xbox Series X might be a promising console that’s expected to deliver a seamless gaming experience, but there is a major obstacle standing in its way. The PS5 is the Xbox Series X’s worst nightmare. The rivalry between Xbox and PlayStation has been ongoing for what seems like eons. Why get an Xbox Series X when most of the multi-platform games will release for PS5? Also, PlayStation has more exclusive games and VR support, which are compelling reasons to opt-out of the Xbox Series X.

6 Backwards Compatibility (Reason To Buy)

Just when we think that Xbox is down and out, they answer back with a reason to buy the platform. Our next reason to buy the Xbox Series X is that backwards compatibility will revolutionize the gaming industry.

Xbox has listened to players’ woes, and they’ve decided to make the Xbox Series X the most backwards compatible console of all time. Backwards compatibility will not only include games but will consist of accessories like controllers as well.

5 Price Point (Skip It)

There have been a variety of price points for which the Xbox Series X could be priced under. The upcoming video game console will hopefully be as affordable as the Xbox One and doesn’t receive a substantial increase in its price. If it’s the latter and not the former, it might be a viable reason to skip out on purchasing the Xbox Series X. Will it be $599, $550, $500, or some other cost? We’ll have to wait and see.

4 It’s More Powerful Than The PS5 (Reason To Buy)

According to windowscentral.com, “It’s official. The Xbox Series X is more powerful than the PlayStation 5 (PS5).” Comparing the specs head-to-head between the two consoles, we see that the Xbox Series X looks better on paper. It has more teraflops, meaning potentially better graphics. However, hardware capabilities can only go so far. Video game developers have to create games that look graphically impressive. As of now, we haven’t seen any Xbox Series X games that utilize the system’s potential.

3 Xbox Series S (Skip It)

The Xbox Series S (also known as Lockhart) will be a technically less impressive console, but be more friendly to gamers’ wallets. Do we really need that much power with the Xbox Series X? The Xbox Series S is expected to have an SSD, which will dramatically decrease load times. It might be worth waiting for the Xbox Series S, which is expected to be more powerful than the Xbox One X.

2 Games (Reason To Buy)

Most were wowed by the Xbox Games Showcase event, which revealed that every game announced would be coming to Xbox Game Pass. Halo Infinite, As Dusk Falls, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, Avowed, Battlefield 6, Control: Ultimate Edition, Cyberpunk 2077, Fable 4, and Resident Evil Village are some of the many games coming to the console. The Xbox One will soon become defunct without new game releases. The Xbox Series X is looking more and more like the console to buy.

1 Only Twice As Powerful As The Xbox One X (Skip It)

How powerful the Xbox Series X will be a major selling point for the console. How exactly powerful is the Xbox Series X? Looking solely at teraflops, it could be said that the Xbox Series X is twice as powerful as the Xbox One X. However, with things like an SSD, 8K gaming, and 120 frames per second, the console is bound to surpass expectations. Try not to get too tied up on power capabilities and more on what games the system will have.
