About halfway through the season, Activision likes to release a big update for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Warzone that injects the games with a slew of new content. The Call of Duty: Modern Warfare mid-season update for Season 5 has now been announced and detailed. Entitled Season 5 Reloaded, Modern Warfare fans can look forward to downloading the big new update starting tonight, August 24, at 11pm PT.
The Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Season 5 Reloaded update is headlined by the special Games of Summer event, which will take place from August 28 until September 7. This event will consist of special trials that players can complete to represent their county online. Both those that own the standard game and just play the free version of Warzone will have access to the Games of Summer Trials when they go live on August 28.
Meanwhile, the mid-Season 5 update is also adding the new FiNN LMG to both Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Warzone. As usual, players will be able to unlock the new LMG either by purchasing a bundle in the store or by completing a challenge. The FiNN LMG will be available for Modern Warfare come Season 5 Reloaded’s launch, though fans will have to wait for some of the new content.
A new Warzone game mode, King Slayer, is going to come at some point later in the season. King Slayer is described as “large-scale Team Deathmatch” and it has Warzone players battling it out in a constantly-moving circle. Top-scoring players will be marked on the map, and killing them will get players extra points as well as a free Killstreak that they can use to try to become the “king” themselves.
As far as standard Modern Warfare multiplayer goes, fans can look forward to the return of Gunfight Tournament when the Games of Summer go live on August 28, along with the new Verdansk Stadium Gunfight map. Ground War is also getting a new variant called Ground War Reinforce, which adds three flags to the center of Ground War maps. Later in the season, fans can also look forward to getting the new multiplayer operator Morte.
The Call of Duty: Modern Warfare mid-Season 5 update will go live tonight at 11pm PT, and it is set to feature a significant amount of new content for fans of the game. The next big update after this will likely be the inevitable Modern Warfare Season 6 update, and so it will be interesting to see what it has in store.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is out now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
