Activision recently used the Warzone mode as part of an incredibly interesting and complex easter egg for the next Black Ops game. The hunt led popular COD YouTubers down a rabbit hole which led to sealed off Warzone locations, documents full of codes to solve, and an unfinished version of the popular RC-XD killstreak. When solved, Black Ops Cold War’s teaser trailer was unlocked, providing players with the date of the full reveal.

Call of Duty fans will once again need to load up Warzone to see the reveal themselves, though what exactly it will contain remains a mystery. A beta for Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War recently leaked, something that could certainly be announced during this reveal. An announcement and release date for the beta has to come soon, as there is only so much time for it to take place with the game still set to release in 2020. Given past COD reveals, players will likely see some campaign and multiplayer gameplay during the reveal event as well. However, if rumors about the Zombies mode are to be believed, it likely will not be part of Wednesday’s showcase.

Revealing Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War within Warzone is an incredibly smart move on the part of Activision. Call of Duty Warzone is not just a an incredibly successful battle royale, but also free to everyone, meaning that whoever wants to see the reveal live can download the game and launch it at 10:30 AM PT on the 26th. Hopefully, the servers can support the event, as player numbers are sure to high on Warzone at that time.

As of now, Black Ops: Cold War is a mysterious game outside of its titular setting. The reveal trailer focused on Yuri Beznov, doubling down on the “Know Your History” marketing the game has been focused on. Based on that trailer, there seems to be a focus on some degree of historical accuracy in the upcoming first-person shooter, something the series has not seen for some time.

The cover art for Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War was also revealed, showing a bold new style that sets the game apart from the usual COD covers. It is certainly an exciting time to be a Call of Duty fan, and with players now knowing when and where this reveal will take place, that excitement may only grow larger.
