In the lead up to the release of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare‘s Season 5 Reloaded update, details have trickled in about the new content coming for Modern Warfare and Warzone. New operators, new weapons, and refreshed playlists are all here, and now the official patch notes break down the details further.
The update, titled Games of Summer, brings a slew of new content to the game for both Modern Warfare and Warzone. Working with a loosely Olympic Games theme, the latest update will include a series of challenge events for players to tackle. Completing these events earn players medals for their home country, adding to a tally that will determine which country has the best players. Also up for grabs will be in-game rewards for completing the Games of Summer challenges.
The patch notes for the update indicate that download sizes will be hefty, but not as massive as new season updates. The PS4 update will hit players with a 10.6 GB download, Xbox One users have a 14.09 GB update in order, and PC users will see an update of 11.3 GB for F2P gamers, and 17.6GB for Premium players. The patch notes reveal what playlists to expect, including the new King Slayer Trios mode for Warzone.
Skimming through the patch notes, this update includes a number of smaller fixes for bugs that have cropped up throughout the game, such as the invulnerable gas mask glitch. There is also a fix for self-revive not appearing on the UI after players purchase it from a Buy Station, something that was costly when a player would go down and not remember their purchase.
With every substantial update, players are actively searching for ways that the update might shake up the meta of the game. The introduction of the FiNN LMG to the game shows that the swing towards the LMG category is in full effect. With the unstoppable Bruen and the often slept on PKM proving to be quite strong, adding another LMG into the mix will surely catch players’ attention. Especially when the patch notes don’t offer anything in the way of weapon nerfs or buffs to the existing arsenal.
While the notes don’t reveal anything that will fundamentally change the game, all the little fixes help to improve the quality of life for players who often grumble when something goes wrong. Developers attempt to fix the issues that crop up to restore faith amongst the player base. It is important for Infinity Ward and Activision to keep players interested and excited with the global reveal for Black Ops Cold War coming on August 26th.
