The details for Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War just keep coming ahead of the recently-confirmed release date of November 13. Fans now have tons of new information about multiplayer, campaign details, and tactics, and most recently, news about cross-gen play and game editions.
It can be hard to keep up with all the new details about Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, but all the info is certainly generating a lot of excitement. A recent datamine of Black Ops Cold War‘s files discovered an Ultimate Edition and a Cross-Gen Bundle, leading some fans to believe that Activision won’t be providing a free upgrade for Xbox Series X or PlayStation 5. Since Microsoft and a few third-party companies have confirmed free upgrades, a bunch of Call of Duty fans were pretty upset to hear this rumor.
Activision is now confirming there will be three editions of the game: Standard Edition, Cross-Gen Bundle, and Ultimate Edition, and only the latter two editions will be offering both current-gen and next-gen play. It’s unfortunate when some leaks to be true, since it turns out that Black Ops Cold War players won’t be provided with a free upgrade. However, other more exciting leaks suggest pre-order bonuses and early access to open beta, and these are also confirmed.
All Standard Edition contains is a current-gen version of the game and the Confrontation Weapons Pack, and it will sell for $59.99. The Cross-Gen Bundle goes for $69.99 and adds on a next-gen version of Black Ops Cold War. Ultimate Edition is a whopping $89.99 and includes everything the Cross-Gen Bundle has, in addition the “Land, Air and Sea Pack” with new operator and vehicle skins and 3 weapon blueprints. It also includes a Call of Duty Battle Pass Bundle with a 1-Season Battle Pass and twenty Tier Skips.
The good news is that all digital edition pre-orders get early access to Open Beta and a Frank Woods operator bundle, the latter of which being leaked previously. The bundle includes “iconic operator” Frank Woods and a weapon blueprint for an assault rifle for “immediate use” in Modern Warfare and Warzone. Those who pre-order Ultimate Edition will also get ten Tier Skips in those two games.
Players can expect pre-orders to go live soon on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC game stores, and they won’t have to wait until November 13 to get their hands on the Frank Woods bundle or the Tier Skips if they pre-order Ultimate Edition. While it is disappointing to not see free next-gen upgrades, the pre-order bonuses sound pretty cool. Until then, players can keep up on the new details about Black Ops Cold War.
Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War will be released November 13 for PS4, Xbox, and PC with PS5 and Xbox Series X versions in development.
