With Call of Duty: Warzone players still in the midst of Season 5, people are naturally curious and eager to learn what Activison and Infinity Ward have planned for the next season. Recent leaks point to additional game modes that will come down the line, with a Zombie mode being the most notable one, and now fans are convinced that Warzone‘s map of Verdansk will be undergoing another big change.
Season 5 included a loot-covered train that travels around the map, which certainly shook up how matches play out and even had some players trying to develop a plan to stop it from moving. According to this one leak, it appears that Warzone‘s Metro subway system, which has been locked up tight for the last five seasons, will be opened up in Season 6. Aside from further expanding the map, this would also change certain POIs, like the Stadium and the Airport.
This leak isn’t technically new, as it was first posted around the beginning of August but has since resurfaced and shows an outline of the subway system and the route the subway train itself follows. If accurate, then the seven stops are Verdansk International Airport, Verdansk Stadium, Gorengard Lumber Yard, Downtown Tavorsk District, Barakett Promenade East, Verdansk Train Station, and Torsk Bloc.
While leaks shouldn’t be taken as fact, fans believe there is enough previous evidence to confirm that the subway will open up. This is because, back in Season 4, a nuclear warhead was discovered in Bunker 11 and was described as being snuck in under Verdansk, which could indicate that the subway was the method used to move the warhead.
It’s very likely that, whatever Season 6 has in store of players, it will have some sort of tie-in to Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, which was finally officially announced after months of leaks and rumors. We already have evidence of that, as Black Ops recurring character Frank Woods is expected to be added as a playable operator for both Warzone and Modern Warfare.
While official details about Black Ops Cold War are still rather scarce, numerous details have been leaked, including one major point of contention that has drawn ire from players and non-players alike. According to these leaks, Activision won’t be offering free next-gen upgrades for Black Ops Cold War. Basically, if someone buys the PlayStation 4 version, they won’t be entitled to the PlayStation 5 version. Considering many other publishers are offering free upgrades for their titles, Activision has already begun drawing criticism for this decision.
Call of Duty: Warzone is available on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
