Each month, PlayStation offers PS Plus subscribers a free selection of games, ranging from major new titles like Fall Guys to smaller, lesser-known games. Now, PlayStation has revealed the PS Plus games for September 2020, and it appears to be yet another spectacular month following the already strong lineup of free PS Plus games in August.
Fans have two major games to look forward to next month, Player Unknown’s Battlegrounds and Street Fighter 5. While both games have been available for a while now, they’re major titles in their respective genres. PUBG helped lay the foundation for battle royale, helping to pave the way for games like Fortnite and Warzone, while Street Fighter 5 is part of one of the longest-running fighting game franchises available.
It’s a strong lineup and one that should please fans with an active PS Plus subscription. With such a wide range of possibilities, there’s always a chance that a new month’s games can disappoint, and they have in the past, with Sony changing PS Plus games due to fan outcry on particularly disappointing occasions. Luckily, the company’s been on something of a hot streak with the games as of late.
Players will be able to claim the games starting ion September 4, so long as they have an active PS Plus membership. The games, of course, will remain in their library unless the membership lapses, and with the PS5’s backward compatibility, players should get to keep playing them for quite some time. In the meantime, August’s PS Plus games will remain free until August 31, so those that haven’t picked them up yet should remember to do so.
It’s a good time to be a PlayStation fan. The build-up to the PlayStation 5’s launch is exciting, and the company has continued to release major exclusive games for its platform. While a service like PS Plus does cost money, the free games on offer tend to vastly outweigh the cost of the service itself, which is the icing on the cake.
With the PS5 on the horizon, it isn’t clear how many more free PS4 games fans can expect. However, the PS3 and Vita received free PS Plus games for years following the PS4’s launch, so it shouldn’t slow down anytime soon. Hopefully, September’s free PS Plus games will provide fans with a decent way to kill the time, and if not, there’s always October for fans to look forward to.
September 2020’s PS Plus games are Street Fighter 5 and PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds.
