Little Nightmares 2 just got a new gameplay trailer today at Gamescom 2020, where fans got a nice look at what the upcoming title has in store for players.
The gameplay trailer showed off a ton of new, disturbing locations from a spooky forest, to dark alley ways, to a haunted train. There were plenty of scary foes that fans got a peek at as well, from a reanimated severed hand, to living dolls and even straight-up ghosts.
For those unfamiliar with the original title, Little Nightmares is a horror side-scrolling platformer in the same vein as Limbo and Inside, where players take control of a young kid who must escape from various horrifying obstacles and creatures. The game is a puzzle-platformer and shares some DNA with titles like LittleBigPlanet, where the player must use their puzzle-solving skills in order to advance to the next area. But with survival horror gameplay thrown in, Little Nightmares feels very unique and different from other titles within its genre. As scary as the original game ways, the sequel looks even scarier, with tons of disturbing imagery and visuals.
Apart from introducing new enemies and locations, Little Nightmares 2 seems to largely differentiate itself from the original by incorporating co-operative play. It’s unknown whether the co-op mode is only intended for local multiplayer or will also support online play, and if so, whether online play will be allowed to be played cross-platform. The new co-op will surely spice up gameplay quite a bit, and allow for some very different puzzles involving players aiding one another in order to progress through the game.
At the end of the gameplay trailer, it was revealed that Little Nightmares 2 will be launching on February 11th of next year for all current-gen consoles including the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, and Nintendo Switch. Additionally, those who purchase the PS4 or Xbox One versions of the title will be able to receive the Xbox Series X or PS5 versions for free of charge when the respective next-gen ports launch in 2021 at a later date.
The horror platformer Little nightmares 2 is just one of many new titles that has been shown off at Gamescom today, with other highlights including Star Wars Squadrons, Surgeon Simulator 2, Jurassic World Evolution‘s port to the Nintendo Switch, and much more. There are still plenty more titles to be announced at Gamescom, with three full days still to come.
Little Nightmares 2 launches on February 11th for PC, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox One and will arrive on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X at a later date.
