More details have been revealed about what video game fans can expect to see at Gamescom 2020, which will feature at least 20 games its opening night. There will be big name titles and indies throughout the two-hour event, and a certain 30-year-old franchise will be getting a new entry. Strictly Limited Games and Factor 5 have announced that Turrican will be receiving a 30-year anniversary project, and the game will officially be shown at Gamescom.
Turrican was first released in 1990 for the Commodore 64. After that, the series saw four more entries in the early- to mid-1990s, with the most recent being Super Turrican 2 in 1995. Now, 25 years since the franchise put out its last installment, that drought is about to end.
Turrican is often remembered for having an amazing 16-bit soundtrack, along with solid run-and-gun gameplay. It is not yet known what this 30-year anniversary game will look like, but the idea of either a new entry or a remaster being worked on by Factor 5 is something that should excite fans of classic games.
The opening night of Gamescom is set to be an exciting event. Large titles like Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War will be there, showcasing supposedly new content not seen in Activision’s official reveal today, and indie titles like Turrican and Little Nightmares 2 will also be highlighted during Gamescom. With 2020 being an odd time for developers due to a lack of public events like E3, it’s good to know Gamescom is still on track to reveal plenty of new content.
