For some players, Magic: The Gathering isn’t just a game, it’s a lifestyle. Players will spend hours reading up on lore, brewing new decks, and watching their favorite content creators. But one super fan has taken things to the next level, integrating the game directly into her home.
In one of the most crafty DIY Magic: The Gathering projects ever conceived, a YouTuber going by the name Tap That MTG has tiled the entire floor of her home using Magic cards. She created a series of square tiles, each based on one of Magic‘s 5 colors. She then created a grid using the backs of magic cards, and filled in the grid with the tiles.
The result is a surprisingly compelling space, that highlights her devotion to the game. The room she tiled serves as a mix of a streaming, gaming, and crafts room, so the tiling really fits with the space around it. From the video, it looks like she mostly used very inexpensive cards when making the tiles, which is smart, considering that someone once ruined hundreds of dollars of Magic cards to make a deck box.
Magic: The Gathering has been inspiring creativity in its fans since it was first released in 1993. Many fans find self expression through the decks they build, while others take it a step further. These fans creating intricate cosplays, or make their own altered cards. Tap That MTG has taken that creative spirit and brought it directly into their home, with stunning results.
