Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War: Everything We Know So Far

The newest Call of Duty game is set to come out this fall. Treyarch is responsible for the game this year, which is expected to be another entry in the Black Ops series.  This entry is supposed to bridge the gap between Black Ops 1 and Black Ops II. Much to the enjoyment of fans, some familiar faces and new faces make an appearance in the game.

While not much is known about the Zombies or multiplayer, fans can notice a few details from the reveal trailer as well as other information having been confirmed via news outlets and other gaming media channels.

10 Playable Character Is Customizable (In A Way)

Much like Black Ops III, the playable character will be customizable. As of now, it is only known the gender, nationality, race, and what organization they use to be a part of. Players will be able to decide if the character used to be part of the KGB or MI6.

This means the player can play through the campaign as a character of their creation. It will be interesting, as it seems that Mason, Woods, and Hudson will be left as NPCs.

9 Another Real-Life President Appears

Much like in Black Ops 1, this game will feature another real-life president. Instead of John F. Kennedy, Ronald Reagan makes an appearance to speak to Woods and Mason.

Reagan tasks the characters to track down a Soviet spy named ‘Perseus’ who is trying to subvert US dominance. It is unknown how much Reagan will appear in the game, but it can only be hoped he makes an appearance in Zombies.

8 Berlin Makes An Appearance

During the campaign, Berlin is going to make an appearance. During the trailer, players can see a figure standing over the Berlin Wall, most likely going to sneak into the other side. While it can be assumed that sneaking across the wall will make an appearance, it is unknown if it is to Soviet or American Berlin.

It will be entertaining to see this area make an appearance in the game. Especially during the Cold War, where tensions would be high between both owners of Berlin.

7 Part Of The Game Takes Place During The Vietnam War

Just like in Black Ops II, there will be a time jump during the campaign. Some missions will take place during the Vietnam War, also being similar to Black Ops 1.

It will be interesting to see what part of the Vietnam War will make an appearance in the game. In Black Ops 1, fans were able to take part in the siege of Khe Sahn and the Tet Offensive. This gives many more battles and operations from the Vietnam War players could see.

6 Other Part Takes Place In 1980s

Black Ops II brought players to the 1980s when the Cold War was ending. The new game will bring players to the beginning of the 80s during the beginning of Ronald Reagan’s presidency. It will be an interesting era to see, as the 1980s saw the Cold War heat up a little more.

The trailer for Cold War features a song by Pat Benatar, so it will be interesting to see if other songs from the 80s and late 70s make an appearance in the game.

5 Favorite Trio Return To Game

Hudson, Woods, and Mason return to Cold War as allies to the player. While it is unknown if all three will go on missions together, it will be nice to play through the campaign alongside familiar faces. Players will most likely see these characters as they go through the end of the Vietnam War.

While it is nice to see familiar faces, it will also be nice to see the new characters that make an appearance. It will be interesting to see how these characters interact with the world events going on and how they will save the United States from ‘Perseus’.

4 ‘Perseus’ Based On Real Spy

‘Perseus’ is the Soviet spy and the main antagonist for Cold War. It can be assumed most missions in the game will be hunting down this mysterious spy. What players might not know is that ‘Perseus’ is based on a real spy.

In real life, ‘Perseus’ is thought to have been the codename of a Soviet spy who infiltrated the Manhattan Project. It is also unknown if this spy actually existed or not.

3 Warzone Set To Make An Appearance

Cold War is supposed to have Warzone as part of the game. It is supposed to be very similar to Modern Warfare’s Warzone, but it is unknown where the map will be set. Players will be able to access both Modern Warfare and Cold War’s Warzone through the free-to-play browser.

It will be fun to play a game of Warzone that is set in the 80s or the 60s. It could safely be assumed that Cold War’s Warzone will take place in the 80s era.

2 Will Be Released On Next-Gen Consoles

While it is going to be released for the PS4 and Xbox One, Cold War will also be released for next-gen consoles. It is confirmed that there will be cross-gen and cross-platform play for Cold War.

It will be interesting to see if there will be a disadvantage for current-gen players when it comes to this feature. Hopefully like Modern Warfare, there will be an option to turn cross-play off.

1 Releases On November 13

Like the Call of Duty games before it, Cold War is set to release in November. The date was revealed during its trailer, with the trailer also saying the multiplayer trailer is coming out on September 9. Players will be able to see what events happened between Black Ops 1 and Black Ops II.

Zombies, Warzone, and multiplayer will be a welcome addition to the game as well. It will be interesting to see how Treyarch takes on Warzone.
