Blazing Sails: Battle Royale, a pirate-based battle royale with a colorful art-style, is headed to Steam. In just 11 days the brand new battle royale experience will his Steam Early Access, on September 9, 2020.
At first glance, Blazing Sails may look like Rare’s Sea of Thieves, as both games share their pirate theme and cell-shaded cartoonish style. But Blazing Sails is a true battle royale experience, with players teaming up across a massive map, looting for weapons and ships, and battling out on the high seas together.
In beta form Blazing Sails has seen success and on streaming platforms. The best battle royale games seem to gravitate towards popularity on Twitch, and the genre as a whole become one of gaming’s most popular over the past half-decade. A pirate take on the idea is a welcome one.
When players think battle royale, Fortnite or Apex often comes to mind. But there are many lesser-known great battle royales out there, and even games like Hunt: Showdown or Fall Guys that have battle royale elements to them. As a pure battle royale game, Blazing Sails has the opportunity to find a following thanks to its gameplay and design. And now that it is available so soon in early access on Stream, many players will get to test it out for themselves.
With the trouble in development of Ubisoft’s Skull and Bones, and with Sea of Theives being more of a shared world multiplayer experience, there seems to be a gap in pirate-themed competitive multiplayer games. Now that this new game is in early access, Blazing Sales may start reporting blazing sales.
Blazing Sails will be in Steam Early Access beginning September 9, 2020.
