It’s hard to believe that Dreams has been out for nearly six months. In that time, players have created impressive and inventive experiences for the masses to enjoy. While some levels are much more exceptional than others, Dreams has given all kinds of players the opportunity and outlet to express themselves creatively. Though, one creation has certainly pushed the limits as to what can be accomplished within the game.
As previously mentioned, players have created an incredibly broad variety of different levels and experiences. The best part about the game is easily its accessibility. Practically anyone can pick up the game and create something interesting within it. In fact, a playable version of Ratchet and Clank is actually being produced by an Insomniac developer via Dreams. It really goes to show what can be achieved within the game.
Most users tend to create variations of different games within Dreams, like a budget version of Fall Guys. However, many other users have created unique experiences that have next to nothing to do with video games. Case in point, a talented Dreams user managed to create a hyper-realistic park for players to walk through. It’s almost scary how lifelike everything is. The sound of the leaves crunching under the player’s feet is a nice atmospheric touch as well.
Additionally, there are birds chirping, the sound of the wind blowing, and the large, expansive landscape of trees with buildings poking their way in-between. It’s almost as though this was based on an actual park. Though, this isn’t the first time this user has created something like this. Back in mid-July, the user also created an impressive photo-realistic canyon in Dreams.
It’s impressive to see how much added variety there is in terms of Dreams and not just how it relates to game design. Experiences like this one are incredibly impressive to see, especially on a platform like Dreams. Graphically speaking, this is almost on the same level as Silent Hills, which is really saying something.
Dreams levels such as this also give players a way of vicariously experiencing something through an alternate use of media. Given how much COVID-19 has impacted how frequently people can go outside, hopefully, creations like this one will help players scratch that atmospheric itch. In any case, it’s exciting to see how much player’s have managed to accomplish within Dreams and how many more levels there are to experience.
Dreams is available now exclusively for the PS4.
