Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout continues to prove its success as the addictive party battle royale game just became the most downloaded game on PlayStation Plus. The devs at Mediatonic are working hard to keep up with the success of Fall Guys and are outlining some of the updates they have in store for the game.
Mediatonic recently released an update for Fall Guys that added some highly requested features such as changing up the frequency of team games and the ability to spectate other party members automatically. Small fixes like this have helped to keep the audience engaged with the game, but there are still plenty of features that players are calling for which are yet to be added.
In an interview with The Loadout, Fall Guys devs Joe Walsh and Oliver Hindle discussed the success of the game and some of the plans they have for its future. When asked whether custom servers or lobbies will become an added feature Walsh responded “It’s still early days, but it’s something we hear a desire for. Fall Guys is ultimately a TV show and people want to be the director, they want to run their own show. We totally hear the demand for that, but it’ll take us a little while to figure out what that looks like exactly. But it’s on our list of things to do.”
Hindle added that setting up private lobbies will also help with large-scale events that the game plans to implement. Walsh and Hindle both supported the idea of charity focused events held via Fall Guys which is something that players may see more of in the future, such as the upcoming Twitch Rivals event. It’s also promising to see that custom servers are a future possibility for players who wish to host their own private parties.
The other most requested feature on Fall Guys would have to be cross-play. The game is currently only available on PC and PS4, with Xbox and Switch version a long-term possibility for the game, but players who wish to play in a party with friends on different platforms are currently unable to do so. Walsh commented on the status of cross-play saying that the studio is committed to implementing it as a feature but there are currently no new status updates.
In addition to these upcoming features, the Fall Guys devs are working to release season two which was recently announced at the opening night of Gamescom. Season two will introduce a medieval theme that will bring new mini-games, upgrades on existing games and heaps of new costumes and store content. It’s also been confirmed that the Fall Guys season 2 battle pass will be free just as season 1 was.
Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout is out now on PC and PS4.
