Fortnite Season 4 Leaks Reveal More Superhero Abilities

Fortnite is currently in the middle of Marvel-madness with its current Chapter 2 Season 4 update, called the Nexus War, that features playable heroes from all over the Marvel universe. Players can play as Mystique, Iron Man, Wolverine, Groot, Thor and more, in addition to a host of Marvel map changes. But according to some leaks, even more superheroes may be on the way.

The new additions to Fortnite are more than just map changes and skins, however. Each of the Marvel characters has additional challenges that award unique unlocks, like Thor’s challenges to unlock Mjolnir as a pickaxe skin. And the leaks have been near constant, with Black Panther and his Panther Monument having just leaked a few days ago.

Now, a new list of powers these possible new heroes could have are raising speculation on more heroes, courtesy of Boyfromhel1. Each hero has a codename related to a food, with the aforementioned Black Panther being Plum, Iron Man being Tomato, and Thor being Tapas, for example. The list has two unknowns, one being Cherry and the other Vertigo (which is not a food). This is where the speculation comes in.

Some of the replies suggest that Cherry’s FireBall and FireJump abilities could likely be the Human Torch, which would make sense, given the enemy of his Fantastic Four team Doctor Doom already being in the game. Vertigo is a bit tougher. Out of high profile missing Marvel heroes, Spider-Man has already been hinted at via an in-game achievement, but one would think Spider-Man’s power names would involve a word like web or swing.

The word itself Vertigo could suggest someone who flies, which could be Captain Marvel, perhaps one of the next most high-profile Marvel heroes. Captain Marvel has risen a great deal in popularity in the past few years, mostly due to her introduction into the MCU with actress Brie Larson. After all, Captain Marvel will be featured in another Marvel-centric video game this year, so it is not out of the realm of possibility that she could be the next hero.

All of this amazing content is not available to the millions of Fortnite players on iOS unfortunately, as Apple and Epic Games are still in the midst of a tech battle for the ages. It began when Epic tried to bypass the App Store microtransaction interface and allowed Fortnite iOS players to make in-app purchases directly with Epic at a discount. The most recent development in this ongoing saga is that Apple has suspended Epic’s App Store account, which has major repercussions not just for Fortnite but for the thousands of iOS games that utilize Epics Unreal Engine.

Fortnite is out now for PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One, with PS5 and Xbox Series X versions also in development.
