Link’s Awakening (2019) – A Step By Step Guide To Every Heart Piece

Heart Pieces are a critical resource for helping Link survive the dangers of Link’s Awakening. With every four Heart Pieces he receives a permanent Heart on his health bar. Considering there are 32 Heart Pieces that means a total of eight permanent Hearts.

That being said, finding all 32 Heart Pieces can be tricky as they’re scattered across the map and tucked into places that are difficult to find and difficult to reach. This guide separates the heart pieces based on the point in the game the player can reach them.

9 After Obtaining The Sword

Having the sword gives the player access to five Heart Pieces right away. The first can be won at the Trendy Game in Mabe Village. The second is available for 200 Rupees at the Tool Shop. The third is at the bottom of a well in the northwest section of the village just before entering the Mysterious Forest.

The other two Heart Pieces are acquired by fishing at the Fishing Hole. The player gets a Heart Piece for catching a small fish and another for catching a Large Fish.

8 After Getting Roc’s Feather In Tail Cave

With the Rock Feather the player can jump across chasms to reach different areas giving access to two more Heart Pieces. The first is in north of the Witch’s House in Koholint Prairie. There is a cluster of pits with a Heart Piece hiding in the center among some grass.

The other Heart Piece is in the Tabahl Wasteland in the corrupted Forest. It’s hiding behind the northeastern corner behind a purple tree.

7 After The Power Bracelet In Bottle Grotto

The Power Bracelet allows Link to move Boulders giving access to five more Heart Pieces. The first is in the Mysterious Forest where the player obtained a toadstool inside a series of caves. The final room of the cave is a cluster of Boulders and a Skull that block it. Another Heart Piece is in the northwest corner of Ukuku Prairie inside a cave.

The third Heart Piece is also in Uruku Prairie near Richard’s House. Near the water in the overgrown field is a heart piece hiding behind two rows of pits. The fourth Heart Piece is in the Tal Tal Mountain Range inside the cave system. The final Heart Piece is at the Seashell Mansion and is a reward for collecting five Seashells.

6 After The Pegasus Boots In Key Cavern

Pegasus Boots are handy for gathering most Heart Pieces but are absolutely essential for at least six. After getting all of the other rewards at the Trendy Game the player can get another Heart Piece, but it’s tricky to grab. Completing the Fill Up Your Hearts challenge by Dampe rewards another.

The third Heart Piece is in a cave hidden below a tombstone in the southwest corner of the Cemetery. In Ukuku Prairie east of the warp point is a cave hiding another Heart Piece. The fifth Heart Piece is behind the houses in Animal Village. Then the last Heart Piece is in Yarna’s Desert behind a false wall in a room near where the player defeated Lanomola.

5 After The Flippers In Angler’s Tunnel

The Flippers allow Link to traverse water and unlocks five more Heart Pieces. The first is in a cave just after Link exits Angler’s Tunnel. The second is in the moat surrounding Kanalet’s Castle on the western side below the water.

The third Heart Piece is in a water-filled tunnel between Ukuku Prairie and Animal Village. In Martha’s Bay in the southwest corner is a hidden tunnel hiding another Heart Piece. The last one is just north of the entrance to the hidden tunnel in the small pond with standing rocks.

4 After The Hookshot In Catfish’s Maw

The Hookshot opens up the game’s environment tremendously and gives access to most of the remaining Heart Pieces. With the Hookshot the player can defeat Dampe’s Tier 2 Challenges to gain a Heart Piece.

Another Heart Piece is in the northeast section of the mysterious Forest with a log behind three boulders leading to it. The Animal Village hides another Heart Piece just before the entrance to Yarna Desert behind a false wall near the houses.

3 Rapids Ride & Tal Tal Mountain

In the farthest islands to the west in the Rapids is a Heart Piece. Another is in the cave the Raft Shop owner disappears into on a ledge near a boulder. The last Heart Piece in this area is a reward for completing the Rapids Race in under 40 seconds.

In the Tal Tal Mountain Range on the west side is a cave hiding above the Angler’s Tunnel. There’s a false wall in this cave leading to the Heart Piece. The other Heart Piece in the Mountains is further west where the boulders fall in the southwest corner with an entrance leading to Gopongo Swamp.

2 Turtle Rock

There is only one Heart Piece hidden in Turtle Rock. Inside the dungeon, the player can come across a set of stairs that lead outside to the peak of the mountain. On top of the peak is a small patch of grass hiding a Heart Piece.

To reach this set of stairs the player needs to be on Level 8 of the dungeon. The stairs on the north side of a room before reaching the miniboss.

1 Dampe’s Challenge

The last Heart Piece in the entire game is held by Dampe unsurprisingly. The player needs to defeat the Turtle Rock Dungeon and then take on all of Dampe’s challenges to access the Tier Three challenges.

If the player manages to defeat every challenge Dampe puts before them they’ll be reward with the Heart Container. This is the last chunk of Heart the player can obtain and if acquired with all of the other Heart Pieces, it will give Link twenty Hearts, the most amount of health possible in the game.
