A brand new Monster Hunter game is purportedly in development for Nintendo Switch, according to recent statements from a Capcom insider.
The news comes from a report published by VGC. According to said report, a Twitter user known as Dusk Golem – who has reported on Capcom several times in the past – recently said that the studio is currently working on a new Monster Hunter title for Nintendo Switch.
You can check out Dusk Golem’s tweet below.
To elaborate on two things, Monster Hunter Switch is running on a Switch compatible version of the RE Engine, which is why I’ve been posting っ○ whenever I’ve been talking about it for the last few months, it’s supposed to be the RE Engine logo. pic.twitter.com/x5vT4DrwYM

“To elaborate on two things, Monster Hunter Switch is running on a Switch compatible version of the RE Engine, which is why I’ve been posting っ○ whenever I’ve been talking about it for the last few months,” Dusk Golem wrote after noting that said Monster Hunter game is due to be “revealed soon.”
Dusk Golem went on to state that new Shenmue news is coming soon and that Silent Hill is still in development. He also noted that Resident Evil 8 is in a pretty good place right now. Unfortunately the same can’t be said for Resident Evil 4.
Finally, despite the Monster Hunter news, Dusk Golem revealed some less exciting details about the possibility for Resident Evil to come to Switch.
I will crush one dream with my RE Engine on Switch talk:
RE7, RE2 & RE3 aren’t coming to Switch. They tried to port RE7 to Switch for a while one time, but had difficulty getting any satisfactory result. RE Engine games for Switch will need to be made with Switch in mind.

According to the VGC report, Capcom confirmed that Monster Hunter World would not be coming to Switch back in 2018, so the game purportedly in development right now is likely a new entry in the series.
In related news, Capcom had a record Q1 performance this year despite poor Resident Evil 3 sales. Meanwhile, Resident Evil 7 recently became the series’ top seller.
