Vigor is a free-to-play online looter shooter developed by Bohemia Interactive, the team behind the long-running and continually supported DayZ. Currently, the game is only on Xbox One, but that is set to change.
A few months ago it was revealed that Vigor was headed to the Nintendo Switch. But now, thanks to a trailer that dropped during Gamescom 2020, a release date is known for the Switch release. Not only that, but the game is headed to PlayStation consoles as well.
The Switch version of Vigor will drop on September 23, 2020, so just about three weeks away. Meanwhile, the Playstation 4 version of the game is set to be available on November 25, 2020. Vigor is headed to next-gen as well, with a holiday release date for the PS5.
The lack of specificity on the PS5 release date may have to do with the game that the official launch day of the console hasn’t been announced. With rumors flying that the PS5 will be available on November 13, it is entirely possible that Vigor will come out on November 25th for both the PS4 and PS5. But because the launch day is unknown, the developer is stuck simply communicating “Holiday 2020.”
Another interesting thing to note is that technically there has been no confirmation that Vigor will be available as an Xbox Series X game. While the console is backward compatible, it would be nice and expected to have an updated version on the new Xbox console, just like a PS5 version is coming out that will seemingly be updated over the PS4 version. Vigor will have cross-play functionality as well, which is something that should excite many fans.
Vigor is available now on the Xbox One, will launch on the Switch on September 23, is headed to the PS4 on November 25, and is in development for the PS5.
