New Dragon Ball FighterZ Update Deals With Rage Quitters

Since its release in early 2018, Dragon Ball FighterZ has suffered many issues with its online implementation. From issues with the delay-based netcode to network issues persisting for multiple months. One of the biggest issues with the game’s online implementation since launch has been the lack of any consequence for rage quitters, leading some players to exploit the game’s online mode to make it to the top of its ranked leaderboards. Thankfully, after two and a half years, Bandai Namco and Arc System Works have implemented major consequences to players who purposely disconnect from fights in Dragon Ball FighterZ.

In the newest news update, visible when booting Dragon Ball FighterZ‘s online mode, Bandai Namco and Arc System Works detail the consequences being implemented to players caught deliberately disconnecting from matches multiple times. The first strike of rage quitting will see players disconnected to the game’s online lobbies for one week, restricting them from participating in Dragon Ball FighterZ‘s online modes. These players will still be able to participate in the game’s offline modes. However, the message warns that repeat offenders could see outright permanent bans from the game’s online modes altogether.

This news comes as a relief to Dragon Ball FighterZ fans, as it was when it was first announced that the team was looking into solutions for the abundance of rage quitters in the game’s online mode during the Dragon Ball FighterZ Showcase event earlier this month. At this event, the game’s producer Tomoko Hiroki confirmed that the team is looking into ways of improving the game’s online experience as a whole, however she could not confirm if the game would see rollback netcode implementation, despite Arc System Works promising that it will be part of its next title, Guilty Gear: Strive.

Much attention has been drawn to Dragon Ball FighterZ‘s online implementation this year following the cancellation of the planned Dragon Ball FighterZ World Tour 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and the game’s planned but ultimately cancelled appearance at EVO Online 2020. Following this, Bandai Namco has announced the Dragon Ball FighterZ World Tour 2020-2021, an invitational event bringing the game’s best players together from select countries to compete with each other with some matches planned to take place online. More details are to be revealed in September’s edition of Dragon Ball FighterZ Showcase, which will also provide more details on Master Roshi, the game’s next DLC fighter planned for release in September.

Dragon Ball FighterZ is available now for Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
