Call of Duty Pro Explains Why the R9-0 Dragon’s Breath Should Be Nerfed

A new overpowered gun has emerged in Call of Duty: Warzone. The R9-0 shotgun has been deemed as “broken” by many players, including FaZe clan’s NICKMERCS.

Several guns have been called overpowered by Warzone players over the past few months. Infinity Ward is constantly trying to rotate in new weapons, variants, buffs, and nerfs to help balance the battle royale game and keep things refreshing for the player community. Many players will recall the first version of the Grau 5.56 and the infamous Bruen MK9 loadout as being tremendously overpowered.

This time around, the so-called meta involves a shotgun, much different from previous overpowered weapons that have mostly been in the AR or LMG category. The R9-0 “Dragon’s Breath” shotgun variant is the weapon in question. While the shotgun already packs a powerful punch in close quarters combat, the addition of “Dragon’s Breath Rounds” in the ammunition slot creates an incendiary effect on enemies. Including initial damage from the shot, the round will deal a significant amount of additional burn damage to an enemy over the course of a few seconds, even if they run away or hide behind cover. Similar to unlocking the ISO machine gun, players will have to complete a specific challenge to earn the “Dragon’s Breath Rounds” attachment for free. Players will have to get 10 kills while sliding to wield this new Warzone shotgun meta, which can be done easily in the Shoot the Ship playlist.

Streaming sensation and pro Call of Duty player NICKMERCS says that the R9-0 Dragon’s Breath shotgun is way too overpowered and that players will soon see a nerf put in place by Infinity Ward. In a YouTube video titled “This Will Ruin Warzone..”, Nick goes on to explain that if he posts a video showing the unfairness of the gun and other players start using the weapon more, the issue usually gets fixed faster by developers. Nick’s theory seems to have been proven previously after the spiky gun texture glitch was fixed fairly quickly, following numerous viral videos of players reacting to the infamous game error.

There is no way to tell when Infinity Ward will deliver a patch for the R9-0 ‘Dragon’s Breath’ shotgun. For the time being, players will be able to enjoy the fiery, explosive shots while battling it out in Verdansk. It seems that every few weeks a new overpowered weapon rises to the top in Warzone, so players can probably look forward to more future gun exploits.

Aside from gun exploits and glitches that pop up now and then in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, Infinity Ward has also been dealing with a wave of actual cheaters. Activision just threatened to sue CxCheats.net, a popular website that creates cheating programs for shooter games. Legal battles and cheating players included, developers are clearly doing all that they can to keep Warzone fun and refreshing as the seasons roll on and players gear up for Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War.

Call of Duty: Warzone is available now on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
