Desperados 3 Releases New DLC Trailer | Game Rant

The real-time strategy game Desperados 3 has released additional content since launching in June that offers players sometimes wacky missions to take on in its Wild West setting. For instance, last month one Baron’s Challenge added a stealthy crew of animals to use. However, today players officially got access the first of its three-part paid DLC, called “Money for the Vultures,” to continue Desperados 3‘s story.

Kicking off three months after the main game ends, the mission “Late to the Party” has the Desperados gang reunite to find a vault of money hidden by antagonist Vincent DeWitt, only to come across looters already swarming his manor. This first part of the DLC costs $4.99 according to its listing on Steam, but interested parties can also buy the Desperados 3 Season Pass for $12.99 that will include Part 2 “later this year,” as well as an “epic finale” further down the line.

Though the story of this mission seems derivative of the kinds of heist movies that have also inspired games like Path of Exile, right down to a description in the launch trailer telling players to “find out if the enigmatic Rosie from Baton Rogue can really be trusted,” fans will probably be happy to have more content to dive into. Desperados 3 is one of the highest-rated games of 2020 on aggregate site OpenCritic, and a new three-part story may bolster that acclaim further.

The base campaign in Desperados 3 is a prequel to the original game in the franchise, 2001’s Desperados: Wanted Dead or Alive. There are 16 missions across three chapters in Desperados 3, taking around 25 hours to complete, so it will be interesting to see how Money for the Vultures builds upon that experience and bridges the gap between games when all is said and done.

If all of that content still isn’t enough for hardcore fans of the Desperados series, there are even more Wild West experiences for players to get their hands on outside of the video game. The Desperados Pen & Paper RPG released alongside Desperados 3, and its rulebook is currently free to download.

Developer Mimimi Games, which had a hand in creating the adjacent tabletop RPG, seems to have done well for itself when reviving this cult classic tactical strategy series. Fans of Desperados 3 can take on its first major DLC mission now, but will have to wait to see whether the developer sticks the landing in regards to its overall narrative.

Desperados 3 is out now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
