With Marvel’s Avengers set for a global launch later this week, fans who picked up one of the two special editions of the game are actually battling through Crystal Dynamic’s latest title right now. Unlike the studio’s previous Tomb Raider games, Marvel’s Avengers is more open ended, letting players customize their heroes through abilities, cosmetics, loot, and more. Not only that, players can play missions together and in any order they want provided they have strong enough gear.
For a game this size, Marvel’s Avengers has plenty of secrets and puzzles to go along with the action and loot. As the most recent War Table stream confirmed, even the beta had a few secrets which a few players managed to locate and score some great loot. As early access players tear through the game, new puzzles have begun to pop up online.
The latest involves a seemingly locked yellow door during the Condition Green mission. After acquiring the Sabotage Servers objective, players will entering an elevator. Following the ride up, the locked door will appear on the left displaying a big glowing yellow hexagon reminiscent of the logo for A.I.M., the antagonists for the game. One thing to note about this large door is that if players go into the next section of the encounter, they won’t be able to return to this door later. So in order to open it, players will need to stay inside of this room to figure out the solution.
Thankfully, opening it isn’t overly difficult as there are a few switches that need to be destroyed nearby. The game makes locating them even easier thanks to the Tactical Awareness skill available to each Avenger. Using tactical awareness, which is activated by pressing up on the controller’s d-pad, highlights enemies in the environment as well as certain interactive objects in a bright, gold color. Essentially, this tool is intended to help players figure out where to go as well as hunt down things they’d otherwise miss by not exploring.
After finishing off all the enemies in this room, run from switch to switch and hit each one so that they turn blue. When all the switches are blue, the massive yellow door will finally open and unveil the prize.
Unfortunately, for the work players needed to put in, the ultimate reward waiting behind the door may be a bit underwhelming. In addition to a small room, the chest is also fairly small, rewarding players with resources and not much else. While there may not be any legendary loot waiting for players, resources will at least help players better improve their gear or purchase better items from the various vendors located in the game.
Marvel’s Avengers will release for PC, PlayStation 4, Stadia, and Xbox One on September 4th, with PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X releases to follow later in the year.
