One of the most exciting things about new gaming hardware is having great looking new titles that show off the extra performance. Following on from the well-received official announcement of the hugely powerful GeForce RTX 30 Series, Nvidia has released details of a special bundle available for early purchasers of the Ampere powered graphics cards.
For a limited time, anyone who buys an Nvidia GeForce RTX 3090, RTX 3080, RTX 3070, or a pre-built PC with one of the new cards, will get a free download copy of the upcoming Ubisoft title Watch Dogs Legion. The open-world action adventure title is the sequel to Watch Dogs 2, and is based in an alternate version of London. As part of the bundle announcement, Ubisoft launched a new trailer showing off the RTX ray tracing effects used within the game, as well as the use of Nvidia’s AI-powered DLSS super-sampling system.
The bundle also includes a one-year Founders subscription to Nvidia’s GeForce Now cloud gaming service, allowing players to stream titles to devices such as laptops and mobiles. The Founders subscription includes priority access to servers, extended gaming session lengths, and RTX enabled streaming.
Watch Dogs Legion will feature an interesting twist on the traditional open world setting, allowing gamers the ability to play as virtually any character from within the game world, each of which will have their own abilities and skills. The latest trailer includes plenty of water reflections and bright light sources, adding an extra layer of polish to an already great looking title, suggesting that it will be a stunning showcase for the raw power of the new RTX 30 Series cards, and the associated improvements in ray tracing performance. GeForce Now has had a mixed reception, with positive feedback for streaming performance and availability of titles like Cyberpunk 2077, but criticism from publishers over how the service initially operated has led to some major titles being pulled.
The new bundle is a strong package for gamers looking to upgrade to the RTX 30 Series, and it helps to add some extra value for those paying a premium for the flagship RTX 3090 card. GeForce Now appears to be the most technologically advanced of the major streaming services, and the inclusion of RTX support in the bundle adds an extra incentive for those who want to play on the go.
Whether this bundle is enough to get gamers to splash out on Nvidia’s Founders Edition cards remains to be seen though, and many gamers may wait to see what overclocked options other hardware partners bring to the table.
Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 will be available on September 17, GeForce RTX 3090 on September 24, and GeForce RTX 3070 in October.
