Call of Duty: Modern Warfare players usually know about new weapons coming the game before they’re actually released. A recent example of this is a leak showing gameplay of an unreleased sniper rifle that is most likely coming to Modern Warfare in Season 6.
Thanks to leakers and dataminers, players can get the scoop on glimpses of new guns found within Modern Warfare’s code. Now, another unreleased weapon has been leaked and it looks to be a the AA-12 which debuted in Modern Warfare 2.
Currently, Modern Warfare is in the midst of the Games of Summer event in Season 5 Reloaded, where players complete single player trials against other countries to earn high scores and receive in-game prizes. While Season 5 is probably about halfway over by now, Season 6 is nearing its approach. The start of Season 6 will bring tons of new content to Modern Warfare and Warzone in the way of new maps, new cosmetics, and brand new weapons for players to unlock. It seems leakers may already be checking out one of the new guns for Season 6 if a recent Twitter video is to be believed.
The leak comes by way of Call of Duty leaker and content creator BKTOOR on Twitter. The video in question shows gameplay of a player picking up and shooting what looks like the AA-12 shotgun without a complete texture. Veteran Call of Duty players will remember the AA-12 from Modern Warfare 2 or more recently from the campaign of Modern Warfare 2 Remastered. This is yet another returning gun from the series history, like the AK-47, Desert Eagle, and M14.
It’s important to remember that this video is unofficial and still unconfirmed by Activision and Infinity Ward. However, BKTOOR has a history of leaking for both Modern Warfare and Warzone, so there’s a solid chance that the AA-12 will actual return sometime Modern Warfare’s future. The AA-12 is a fully automatic shotgun, which hasn’t been seen in Modern Warfare up to this point. Shotguns like the R9-0 or Model 680 are pump action, while the Origin 12 shotgun is semi-automatic.
If the AA-12 is actually coming to Modern Warfare and Warzone during Season 6, it will surely shake things up quite a bit. Shotguns in Modern Warfare usually stay out of the highest tiers of most weapon tier lists, but the AA-12 could be the shotgun that changes that. The 725 shotgun was one of the best guns during the early days of Modern Warfare, however the 725 eventually saw several nerfs that dethroned it. Hopefully, the AA-12 can bring shotgun players some satisfaction in online matches.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is available on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
