Some might think it’s hard to choose between Marvel’s Avengers‘ Black Widow and The Last of Us 2‘s Abby when it comes to who would win in a fight. Others, on the other hand, are familiar with Black Widow and know exactly how a confrontation between her and Abby would end.
Laura Bailey, as it turns out, is one of these individuals. In a recent interview, GamesRadar asked the voice actor who she thought would win. For those who don’t know, Bailey is the actor behind both Abby and Marvel’s Avengers‘ Black Widow, which is what prompted the question.
When the question came up, Bailey asked if Black Widow would “get all of her toys,” referring to the character’s many weapons. Not wanting to make the contest too easy, GamesRadar staged the fight so that the two characters could only use their fists. With that in mind, Bailey claimed that Widow would be the victor due to her years of training.
Love her or hate her, Abby’s not touching Black Widow. This is especially true with Marvel’s Avengers‘ version of the character. The game takes inspiration from the comics, and anyone familiar with them knows that they can get downright ridiculous when it comes to character feats.
For example, Black Widow has taken grenades to the face, walked away from falls off high buildings, beaten some of her world’s best martial artists, and just generally finds herself in the middle of world-ending events. She even once survived being surgically operated on for hours without any anesthesia. Her sheer will alone makes it hard to imagine that anything less than the Last of Us‘ Cordyceps Fungus would be able to hurt her. Even then, Black Widow’s nearly immune to all poison’s and diseases, so that’s debatable too.
Regardless, the question’s all in good fun. If two action-oriented characters have even the slightest connection to one another, it’s almost a guarantee that the question of who would win in a fight will come up. Sometimes the answer is obvious, though, as one combatant completely outclasses the other.
Marvel’s Avengers releases for everyone on September 4. Black Widow will be one of the core characters available at launch, so the wait for players to personally see what she can do won’t be much longer. Anyone who pre-ordered the game has had access to the full version since September 1, meaning they can try Black Widow out right now.
Marvel’s Avengers releases September 4 on PC, PS4, and Xbox One, with PS5 and Xbox Series X support to follow.
