Marvel’s Avengers features a strong story full of great character moments, with an exceptionally talented voice cast helping to make the game’s narrative work as well as it does. Today, it was confirmed that Nolan North’s Iron Man and Troy Baker’s Hulk are about to be accompanied by even more skilled actors when the first Operation for Avengers arrives.
“Taking Aim”, the first post-launch story campaign for Marvel’s Avengers, will be bringing three new characters into Crystal Dynamics’ Avengers universe. As such, three new voice actors will be coming to the game as well, and their inclusion shows just how focused Crystal Dynamics is on the storytelling aspect of the game.
First up is the original Hawkeye, Clint Barton. Giacomo Gianniotti will be playing the role of the Avengers’ original archer. The least well-known voice actor of the group, Gianniotti is more of an on-screen actor with various movie roles and a recurring role on the TV show Grey’s Anatomy. He should do well with the transition, however, as the game’s version of Hawkeye has a lot going on. Based on the “Taking Aim” trailer, Hawkeye may be undercover or brainwashed, and his relationship with Kate Bishop will be a major focus. Clint also seems to be deaf in one ear like in the comics, which is a nice touch.
Speaking of Kate Bishop, she will be voiced by none other than the incredibly talented Ashly Burch. Black Panther DLC content was supposedly going to be shown in place of the Kate reveal, but was delayed after the tragic death of Chadwick Boseman. Still, it is exciting to see the second Hawkeye coming to the game, as she has become just as popular as the original over recent years. Ashly Burch’s previous roles as Chloe Price in Life is Strange, Tiny Tina in Borderlands, and Aloy in the Horizon series are more than enough to guarantee she will be an amazing Kate.
Lastly, veteran voice actor Jennifer Hale will be joining the Avengers voice cast as Maria Hill. Having already delivered numerous great performances as Mass Effect’s Commander Shepherd, Hale is a great fit for the temporary leader of SHIELD. With even more talented voice actors joining Marvel’s Avengers, Crystal Dynamics plan to keep the game going for years seems more likely than ever. It will be interesting to see who plays some of the other leaked Avengers characters in future DLC, as no punches were pulled when casting this first batch of new heroes.
As of now, it is unknown who will be voicing the game’s PS4-exclusive Spider-Man, as well as which Spider-Man is even appearing in the game. Regardless, whoever gets picked will likely be great, as the Marvel’s Avengers voice cast has been perfectly selected thus far.
Marvel’s Avengers is available September 4th for PC, PlayStation 4, Stadia, nd Xbox One. PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X upgrades will also be released.
