New Wolverine Comic Connects to Fortnite Event | Game Rant

Fortnite has managed to remain one of the biggest titles in the battle royale genre through its unique building mechanics and crossover events. Most of the events in Fortnite tie into a cinematic promotion and it seems to be a successful tactic as it has been repeatedly utilized. The battle royale game managed to cross cinematic universes with its Marvel event which includes heroes and villains from the Avengers and X-Men franchises among others. A Wolverine comic has now made the crossover canon and many will feel this adds legitimacy to the current event.

Wolverine has been one of the first Marvel heroes to arrive in Season 4 of Fortnite and many have been enjoying the challenges that have accompanied the character. However, despite the crossover, few fans would expect the event to become comic book canon. Wolverine #5 has bridged the universes and stories of the respective franchises and it appears to link with a comic dedicated to Fortnite (Fortnite X Marvel – Nexus War: Thor #1).

At the end of Wolverine #5, there is a teaser for what future issues will include, and this advertisement links with the Fortnite event. Wolverine is surrounded by the colors of the rainbow and it seems to showcase the use of Bifrost which indicates that Thor and Sif are connected to the event. On top of that, the voice Wolverine hears beckons him by stating “You are needed elsewhere.” After disappearing, Wolverine returns with a signature sigh and further teases where the Fortnite X Marvel – Nexus War: Thor #1 comic book will be going. This Fortnite and Marvel crossover comic details the story of Galactus and Thor’s battle and the need for additional heroes in the battle.

Alongside this graphic novel development, Fortnite is also adding more Marvel content into the game. The game has added heroes such as She-Hulk, Thor, Groot, and Doctor Doom into the game alongside challenges and collectible items related to them. This trend looks set to continue with official comic book crossovers being released, and it will be interesting to see how fruitful this partnership proves to be going forward. At the moment, it seems most fans are pleased with this huge crossover event.

Fortnite is now part of the Marvel Universe and this may open interesting possibilities for new comics and game modes in the future. However, most fans will currently be focused on enjoying the new content they are receiving as well as the new comics that explain the narrative that underpins the crossover.

Fortnite is free-to-play for PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One, with PS5 and Xbox Series X versions in development.
