Batman, King Shark Images Shared from Canceled Game | Game Rant

Once of the most iconic fictional characters of all time, Batman, is inescapable in modern nerd culture. There are always comics, movies, and games releasing for the hero, and as shown by these new concept art images, there are also Batman projects that never see the light of day.

Concept artist Jerad Marantz, whose previous work includes entries in the Titanfall and Gears of War series, showcased images of villains and Batman himself from a previously unannounced and since canceled game. The caped crusader looks quite different within the images, with the suit looking like a major step away from the batsuit seen at the start of the Gotham Knights reveal trailer.

The batsuit features a large bat symbol that best resembles the one seen on Ben Affleck’s version of the hero in the films, while the uncharacteristic red eyes evoke Flashpoint comparisons. The most well-known version of a red-eyed Batman is without a doubt the one from the Flashpoint Paradox story line that the upcoming Flash movie is set to adapt. The man behind the mask is not Bruce Wayne in this continuity, however, but instead is a gun-wielding Thomas Wayne that saw Bruce die and Martha Wayne become the Joker.

While the Flashpoint story line is popular with many fans, this suit concept is not a perfect match, which means this darker design could be for a more original take on Batman. Perhaps this is what the Damian Wayne Batman from the rumored game would have looked like, as a darker look could certainly work for the former assassin. However, given the “BruceWayne” hashtag in Marantz’ post, it seems unlikely that this character isn’t the original Batman despite the suit’s uniqueness.

As for the villain that received concept art, it is a character not seen in any of the Arkham games: King Shark. King Shark has been getting a good bit of love lately, including a big role in The Suicide Squad movie and being one of the four protagonists in Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League. This concept art of the character features one that looks a good bit different from the King Shark voiced by WWE wrestler Samoa Joe, as a large nose but small set of teeth combine with a thin Xenomorph-like head to create a genuinely scary design. Armored arms and exposed gills from many of the villain’s comic appearances also appear in the concept art.

While Gotham Knights having four playable characters is exciting, seeing a bit more of Bruce Wayne in a single player Batman game would have been nice too. Whatever this canceled project was going to be, the art for it is extremely interesting, and it is hard not to wonder what other canceled Batman projects there are that fans do not know about.
