CBS All Access Hosting Cast Reunions and Marathon For Star Trek Day

CBS All Access is organizing a day-long virtual event to celebrate the 54th anniversary of the original Star Trek series’ premiere on Tuesday, September 8th. The celebration will provide 24-hours of free programming consisting of panels featuring cast reunions for nine Star Trek shows and a marathon of select episodes from every series to date.

CBS All Access will launch its celebration of the Star Trek legacy with a free 12-hour marathon of select episodes exclusive to fans in the U.S. that begins at 12 a.m. PT/3 a.m. ET. A series of panels will occur over the next three-and-a-half hours of the virtual event starting at 12 p.m. PT/3 p.m. ET for worldwide viewers free of charge. The marathon will then resume at 3:30 p.m. PT/6:30 p.m. ET before concluding at 9:00 p.m. PT/12:00 a.m. ET for a replay of the aforementioned panels.

Star Trek: The Next Generation star Will Wheaton and Mica Burton will host the series of panels that include exclusive sneak peeks, updates, footage, and announcements on what CBS All Access’ has planned for the future of the franchise. Below is the full list of panels and details on the cast members and creatives who will participate.

Star Trek: Discovery, which premiered on CBS All Access in 2017, featuring series stars Sonequa Martin-Green and David Ajala (who is joining the show for Season 3), and co-showrunner and executive producers Alex Kurtzman and Michelle Paradise.-Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, the new Discovery spin-off series announced in May, featuring series stars Anson Mount, Rebecca Romijn and Ethan Peck; executive producers Akiva Goldsman and Henry Alonso Myers; and co-executive producers Akela Cooper and Davy Perez.-Star Trek: Enterprise, the UPN series that ran from 2001 to 2005, featuring series stars Scott Bakula, Linda Park, John Billingsley, Dominic Keating, Anthony Montgomery and Connor Trinneer.-Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, the syndicated series that ran from 1993 to 1999, featuring series stars Terry Farrell, Alexander Siddig, Armin Shimerman, Nana Visitor, Cirroc Lofton and executive producer Ira Steven Behr.-Star Trek, the original series that ran on NBC from 1966 to 1969, featuring series star George Takei and the CEO of Roddenberry Entertainment, Rod Roddenberry — the son of Star Trek creator Gene Roddenberry.-Star Trek: Lower Decks, the animated comedy that premiered in August on CBS All Access, featuring voice cast Tawny Newsome, Jack Quaid, Noël Wells and Eugene Cordero and series creator, showrunner and executive producer Mike McMahan.-Star Trek: Voyager, the UPN series that ran from 1995 to 2001, featuring series stars Kate Mulgrew, Robert Picardo, Robert McNeill, Garrett Wang, Tim Russ and Ethan Phillips.And a panel for Star Trek: The Next Generation, the syndicated series that ran from 1987 to 1994, and its CBS All Access sequel series Star Trek: Picard, which concluded its first season in March, featuring cast members Patrick Stewart and Jonathan Frakes.

Furthermore, CBS All Access will run the “Geeks Who Drink Star Trek Pub Quiz” on Twitch at 4:00 p.m. PT/7:00 p.m. where fans from across the globe can test their Trek knowledge. Additional plans include a 24-hour flash sale of Trek merchandise at the official Star Trek shop website and the debut of emojis based on popular characters from the franchise such as Geordi La Forge, Michael Burnham, and Jean-Luc Picard. Throughout the event, CBS All Access will donate $1 to organizations such as the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund, Inc. (LDF), National Action Council for Minorities in Engineering (NACME), and the Equal Justice Initiative (EJI) for every person who tweets using the hashtag #StarTrekUnitedGives.

CBS All Access’ Star Trek Day celebration is just the latest virtual event to take place in 2020 as organizers try to adapt to the COVID-19 pandemic. While they have not been without their issues, events such as Warner Bros.’ DC FanDome have proven a virtual experience can still deliver a unique experience for fans.

The virtual event takes place just over a month before Star Trek: Discovery returns for its third seasonDiscovery debuted in 2017 as the first scripted series developed specifically for CBS All Access and is the seventh Star Trek show overall.

Star Trek: Discovery season 3 premieres on CBS All Access on October 15, 2020.
