Red Dead Redemption 2 Community Ranks the Best Chapters in the Game

While most players these days spend most of their time in Rockstar’s outlaw simulator doing missions online, the original story mode of Red Dead Redemption 2 still manages to draw plenty of attention from fans. Some of those fans have taken a quick break from hunting Naturalist targets and playing Red Dead Online‘s unofficial pastime pigby to make their own community ratings of the best chapters in the game’s original story mode.

Other members of the community have quickly come to share their own rankings as well, although the original post seems to be the only one that really goes into detail as to why each chapter has earned its position in the ranking.

Unsurprisingly u/reddeadoutlaw2024 has placed Chapter 3 at the top of the ranking, a placement shared by one of the commenters on the post and supported by equally high rankings by other fans as well. However, the ranking does become controversial on a few placements thanks to the Epilogue ranking both second and third, based on the quality of the quests and writing while essentially ignoring the way it pads out the ending. Similarly unpopular, especially among commenters, is the relatively high position of Red Dead 2‘s Guarma chapter that most players didn’t enjoy on their first playthrough, but the poster learned to appreciate more over the course of multiple runs through the game.

From how other players have begun ranking the chapters, it doesn’t seem that most of what u/reddeadoutlaw2024 is too out of the ordinary among the community. Some players even seem to be agreeing that the interactions with characters like Charles Smith and Sadie Adler along with the eventual resolution at the end of the Epilogue do stand out when looked at individually. Naturally, there are still plenty of fans with differing opinions, with few sharing an appreciation for Guarma in particular, and others considering the way that the Epilogue overextends to be too much to look past.

Overall, it’s hard to argue with the quality of both the grand story of Red Dead Redemption 2 as well as the smaller details that make each chapter such a thrilling experience. However, that doesn’t mean that every second of the game is without any low points or highlights, meaning that some chapters will rise to the top of rankings and others have to be placed low relative to the others.
