Players love a good crossover, especially when it involves fan favorite characters or worlds. Sometimes these crossovers don’t make a ton of sense, but they can work well anyway. This is the case with Magic: The Gathering‘s Walking Dead crossover, and is the case with a lot of fighting franchises. The why of how two characters came to be fighting often matters less than how fun the fight is.
It is with this attitude that a new game called Bounty Battle is presenting itself to players. Bounty Battle brings together several characters from different Indie games to battle for the fate of the multiverse. Its diverse roster and multi-series crossover premise already has players calling it the Smash Bros. of Indie games.
To raise hype for the upcoming game, an animated trailer for Bounty Battle was recently released. The trailer shows the various characters of the game being pulled from their own worlds into a barren arena. There, they face off against each other as even more characters pour in. It should be noted that unlike other Indie crossover Indie Pogo, and unlike Smash Bros., Bounty Battle features more traditional fighting game mechanics.
The selection of characters is eclectic, and contains some original characters as well. Notably absent is constant Indie crossover maker Shovel Knight, who is part of Indie Pogo. Then again, if Shovel Knight isn’t part of Smash Ultimate‘s main roster, odds are slim he’d be part of Bounty Battle‘s.
Bounty Battle is set to release on September 10th 2020 for PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
