Years after its initial release on the Xbox 360, the cult-classic Deadly Premonition series returned to the public eye with a 2019 re-release and a sequel on the Nintendo Switch. However, the controversial survival horror game has made a surprising return to Microsoft’s consoles. Currently, the original Deadly Premonition is available on Xbox Live’s storefront.
However, fans are wary of the game’s reappearance. Last month, Deadly Premonition suddenly reappeared in the Microsoft marketplace. Unfortunately, Xbox quickly delisted the game days later, and refunded every player who purchased the game. Thus, when the game returned to Xbox Live yesterday, several Twitter fans wondered if it was here to stay.
But despite the skepticism, several fans noticed one reassuring detail from Deadly Premonition‘s current storefront page. This time, the listing now lists the game’s Switch publisher. Others have pointed out that Microsoft has prematurely released and removed games before. Although the Microsoft page currently says that the download is for the Xbox 360, Twitter user Wario64 notes that the Xbox Live version of the game is also compatible with the Xbox One through backwards compatibility.
While it is too early to say whether or not Deadly Premonition is here to stay, hopefully fans of the original horror game are able to enjoy the title on the Xbox One. Hopefully, this new release will satisfy fans frustrated with Deadly Premonition 2‘s performance, which has required developer Toybox to release several updates.
Deadly Premonition is available now on Xbox One and Nintendo Switch.
