Everything You Need to Know Before Buying Borderlands 3’s Final Krieg DLC

Borderlands 3’s Season Pass content is coming to an end with the release of DLC 4 called Psycho Krieg and the Fantastic Fustercluck. The upcoming expansion will be Borderlands 3’s fourth DLC and will be the last, at least for 2020. A couple of weeks ago, Gearbox Software released the DLC’s reveal trailer, which gave players a glimpse of what to expect in the upcoming expansion.

Now that Borderlands 3 DLC 4’s release date is officially revealed, Gearbox has already laid out everything that players should expect in the coming expansion. Similar to previous DLCs, Psycho Krieg and the Fantastic Fusterluck will introduce a new story, new items and legendaries, new missions, and a level cap increase. Now for those who are wondering whether DLC 4 is worth a purchase, here is a breakdown of everything it will add in Borderlands 3.

DLC 4 will take players inside the mind of Krieg, who is the Crimson Raiders’ resident psycho. It is worth noting that Krieg was previously featured in Borderlands 2 and his addition in DLC 4 will mark his return in Borderlands 3. In the expansion, players will travel through Krieg’s warped memories, which will include the Siege of Castle Crimson and Sapphire’s run that involves a murderous train, and lastly, the Benediction of Pain, which will dissect Krieg’s origin story.

Moreover, the DLC will explore Krieg’s reaction after learning that Maya has died under the hands of the Calypsos during the events of Borderlands 3’s main campaign. Of course, given Krieg’s fragile mental state, Maya’s death would surely have an impact on him, which will probably lead to many emotional moments between the two vault hunters. It is interesting to see Krieg play a starring role in Borderlands’ story once again, and it is safe to assume that players will probably see more of him in future Borderlands content.

Apart from the new story, DLC 4 will also allow players to see twisted versions of their favorite Vault Hunters together with new skins, side missions, new legendary items, and Crew Challenges. Additionally, DLC 4 will also introduce three more levels for players to aim for now that the level cap has been increased to 65 and Gearbox said that this is the last planned level cap increased at least for the foreseeable future. Moreover, players would be happy to know that all weapons and gear will still be playable outside of Krieg’s consciousness.

Borderlands 3’s Pyscho Krieg and the Fantastic Fustercluck DLC will be included in the game’s season pass. Unfortunately, players won’t be able to purchase the DLC separately, but it is worth noting that the season pass will include all four of Borderlands 3’s DLCs. The season pass is usually priced at $49.99, but it is worth noting that several retailers are offering discounts for it from time to time, and the price could go as low as $39.99. Additionally, the season pass is also included in the Deluxe and Super Deluxe Editions of Borderlands 3, which also goes on sale regularly. Borderlands 3 Psycho Krieg and the Fantastic Fustercluck will be released on September 10, 2020.

The release of DLC 4 will be the last planned expansion for Borderlands 3 for 2020. At the moment, it is unclear whether Gearbox Software will be releasing more expansions in the future, but the second season of content has long been rumored. Recently, Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford fueled the rumors when he sent out a tweet asking fans what they want to see should the studio release another premium add-on. However, Pitchford made it clear that this does not guarantee that a second season pass is in the works for Borderlands 3, but at least fans know that the studio is open to the idea.

As expected, fans responded that they want to see another round of add-on content for Borderlands 3. While the feedback differs from fan to fan, the majority wanted to see the introduction of new Vault Hunters in the game. Moreover, fans also mentioned that they want to see Bunkers and Badasses 2, which is understandable given that Tiny Tina only played a small role in the main story of Borderlands 3. Of course, it is worth noting that if Gearbox will decide to introduce more content, it would most likely be in the form of smaller packs rather than a full-fledged season pass.

Borderlands 3 is out now for the PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One with DLC 4 releasing on September 10, 2020.
