Nintendo Releases Super Mario 3D All-Stars Unboxing Video

As those who tuned into Nintendo’s recent Super Mario centered Direct will no doubt know, the company will soon be releasing the Super Mario 3D All-Stars Collection in accordance with the video game franchise’s 35th anniversary. The title will combine Super Mario 64, Super Mario Sunshine, and Super Mario Galaxy into one package, allowing users to finally enjoy all three classics on the Nintendo Switch.

To celebrate the game’s release, Nintendo has also seen fit to show off what players ordering the title’s retail edition will receive, posting an unboxing video on its official YouTube channel. The promo is helmed by the two hosts of Nintendo Minute, Krysta Yang and Kit Ellis, who look over the physical copy of the game as well as Puma’s RS-Dreamer Super Mario 64 shoes.

As expected, the cover art showcases all three games in a collage, with the blurb on the back citing why each of the trio became iconic in its own right. It also reveals that players will get to listen to “175 total tracks,” confirming that the music mode will be a comprehensive collection of some of the series most memorable soundtracks. Inside the case is simply the cartridge and some images from each of the games on the reverse cover. The unboxing does seem to highlight how little effort has been put into this 35th-anniversary’s presentation, with Super Mario 3D All-Stars not including any fun collectibles or additions despite being priced at $60.

The Puma shoes are a little more exciting, with the box sporting some retro branding focused around Super Mario 64. Pictures from the character’s history line the top, ranging from Super Mario Bros. 3 to Super Mario Odysseywhile an image of Mario with his wing cap power-up from Super Mario 64 is placed in the corner. The bottom also features a timeline of his adventures as well, which is undeniably a neat little touch. The shoes themselves are bright red and blue, with a power star on the heel and a Super Mario logo on the tongue.

Overall, the unboxing gives a good glimpse of the Super Mario 35th-anniversary content coming very soon, although, it does seem to hint that fans opting for a physical copy of the 3D All-Stars Collection won’t be getting anything to sweeten the deal. Of course, all three games are still critically acclaimed, so playing through some of Mario’s most notable adventures while on the go is likely worth the price of admission for many.

The Super Mario 3D All-Stars Collection will be available on September 18 for Nintendo Switch.
