Dirt 5 Delayed Into November | Game Rant

Known as one of the more highly-anticipated racing titles on the horizon, Dirt 5 will look to bring the series staple rallying gameplay to modern and next-generation consoles later this year. Alongside new maps and vehicles, the game will introduce a brand new story-driven career mode featuring vocal talent like Nolan North and Troy Baker as well as a create-a-track option known as Playground Mode.

Unfortunately, while fans were told they’d be getting the game on October 16, it turns out Dirt 5 needs a little more work done before its ready to revolutionize the series. Announced via the game’s official Twitter account, it seems the game will be delayed to November 6, with Codemasters seemingly needing just a little longer to put on the finishing touches.

According to the statement, “Dirt 5 on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC has now moved to November 6, 2020, with early access for Amplified Edition players on November 3.” The team also tells fans not to worry about the next-generation versions of the game also promised to be coming this year, saying that both the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X will be getting Dirt by the end of 2020. Not much else is shared in regards as to why the game has been pushed back, however, a second statement from Koch Media cleared up the confusion. “The revised launch date will allow Codemasters to release all versions of the game in a shorter timeframe, with the next generation of console launches expected for the holiday season,” the publisher claims.

Evidently, the minds behind Dirt 5 see the game’s next-generation ports as vital to its success, pushing the title back to capitalize on the excitement of Sony and Microsoft’s next-generation offerings. Nevertheless, there’s likely a lot of fans disappointed that the game won’t hit shelves in a month’s time. It’s worth keeping in mind that delays pretty much always result in a better game regardless of the nature behind them, so it’s probably for the better in the long run.

For those wondering whether or not to buy into the game when it drops on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One, Dirt 5 will also offer a complete next-generation upgrade free of charge. Until then though, Codemaster promises that more news and information will be made available about the game in the next month, so fans of the Dirt franchise should keep their eyes peeled for fresh details.

Dirt 5 will be available on November 6 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One, with PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and Google Stadia versions also in development.
