Content in Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout continues to drop. The newest piece, announced through a Tweet from the official Twitter page for the game, reveals that Fall Guys has partnered with another game for its latest skin.
My Friend Pedro, one of the most acclaimed indie titles in recent memory, is now in Fall Guys. My Friend Pedro is a side-scrolling shoot ’em up, developed by DeadToast Entertainment and published by Devolver Digital. Devolver also published Fall Guys, which likely made the deal that much easier.
The cover of My Friend Pedro, showing off a smiling banana, may be as well-known as the game itself. So, that same banana joining Fall Guys as a skin makes perfect sense. According to the announcement Tweet by the official Fall Guys account, the new skin has “slid into stores” and is available now.
Developer Digital continues to grow, and put together a digital stream earlier this year showing off its content after the cancellation of events like E3. It may be a long time before the publisher matches the success of Fall Guys, which has taken the hearts of gamers all over the world, so it makes sense to use the battle royale to advertisement other games. This is likely not the last time a Developer Digital game skin will be added into Fall Guys.
The My Friend Pedro skin works well with the cute nature of Fall Guys, but the game has already added skins from more realistic or mature titles with a cuter bent, such as recent Portal outfits added in collaboration with Valve. Thus Mediatonic, the developer of Fall Guys, has already shown it is able to stretch out and create skins for many different styles of game.
When it comes to other Developer Digital titles, there are quite a few possibilities for Fall Guys content: Gris, The Messenger, and Hotline Miami, one of the publisher’s bigger hits, would be welcome additions. With the success of Fall Guys, the addition of new skins, and constant fan feedback for content ideas, it is likely that Mediatonic will continue to expand on its roster of available outfits. Perhaps there will be more of an emphasis on some Devolver Digital titles in the future, but until then this funny and cute banana skin is a good get for players.
