While Call of Duty Mobile recently teased the return of the classic MW2 map Terminal, it seems the developers have new content ready for fans before then. That content will come in the form of a new Gunfight map, and it should look familiar to fans of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare.
The map Pine from the 2019 reboot of the Modern Warfare series is now set to come to Call of Duty Mobile. An extremely small map set within a forest, Pine is a perfect fit for the close range encounters the fan-favorite 2v2 mode Gunfight is known for. Since the mode was introduced to CoD Mobile, more maps have been requested by Gunfight fans and it appears TiMi Studios is listening.
Gunfight originally launched on CoD Mobile with the Gulag Showers map from Modern Warfare 2019, another small-scale map designed specifically for the mode. Pine offers longer sightlines than the Gulag map as well as a bit more variety in terms of approaches. What Gunfight map comes next to Call of Duty Mobile is anyone’s guess, though it will likely be another map from Modern Warfare as opposed to an original creation.
Call of Duty Mobile has found its best success through recreating fan favorite maps such as Shipment, and that is unlikely to change with any future gunfight additions. The game features the most popular aspects from the entirety of the franchise, so it is no surprise that one of Modern Warfare’s most well received features is getting love on mobile devices. With that in mind, players can expect more of Modern Warfare’s Gunfight content to be ported to CoD Mobile soon.
It will be interesting to see if CoD Mobile ever brings Modern Warfare’s Gunfight tournament to the game. The clever event pits multiple teams against each other, with the groups progressing through a bracket to reach the top spot and earn cosmetic rewards. While it has no effect on the actual gameplay of the matches, it is a fun way to acknowledge teams that thrive within the 2v2 mode and offers an incentive to work together well.
For many players, Gunfight and Warzone are neck-and-neck for Modern Warfare’s best mode. While CoD Mobile has its own battle royale mode as opposed to using the Warzone map, its Gunfight offering is slowly becoming more on par with Modern Warfare’s than one might expect. With that in mind, it is unlikely that Pine will be the last Gunfight map added to the CoD Mobile.
Call of Duty Mobile is available now on iOS and Android mobile devices.
