Final Fantasy X: D&D Alignments Of The Main Characters

Final Fantasy X is a timeless classic in the role-playing game community. Originally released in 2001, the game saw critical and commercial success for its story, voice acting, and full three-dimensional areas. The game follows Tidus, a talented Blitzball player, as he journeys with Yuna, a young summoner, on her quest to save the world of Spira from an endless cycle of destruction. With millions of copies sold worldwide, it is no surprise that fans of the game and critics alike consider it to be one of the greatest video games of all time.

Final Fantasy X featured a cast of memorable characters, each with their own motivations for defeating Sin. Their methods of achieving their common goals are what make each characters’ alignment stand out from one another. Though some of the original main cast returns in Final Fantasy X-2, here is a look into the Dungeons & Dragons alignments of each of the main characters from Final Fantasy X.

10 Tidus – Chaotic Good

One of the main protagonists, Tidus is a star Blitzball player who is transported one-thousand years into the future into the world of Spira by Sin. He meets Wakka and subsequently Yuna, joining them on their journey. Despite the confusion he faces in a new world, Tidus is initially very childish and carefree. He rushes to rescue the summoner from the temple, disregarding the traditions and cultural ramifications that may come with it.

His resentment towards his father also leads him to rebel against responsibility, ironically the same way his father was viewed. Throughout the game, Tidus matures by confronting his childhood memories and feelings toward his father. He is no longer just a lost Blitzball player but rises to hero status.

9 Auron – True Neutral

Players meet Auron during the tutorial stages of the game. Despite Tidus’ confusion during the opening invasion on Zanarkand, Auron remains calm and collected despite the chaos. Upon joining with the party, Auron is the no-nonsense mentor-type character, speaking only when offering insight and sharing stories of his experiences as a guardian.

Despite having looked after both Tidus and Yuna, as well as his personal feelings towards Yevon (the religious faith in Final Fantasy X), he still proceeds to attempt to carry out the original mission knowing the results of finding all the Aeons.

8 Rikku – Neutral Good

Rikku is the first friendly character Tidus meets in Spira. Going out of her way to ensure he isn’t immediately killed by the other Al Behd she was traveling with.

Rikku is also Yuna’s cousin causing her to care deeply about her welfare. She even resorts to kidnapping her from the pilgrimage to prevent her death. Her energetic and kind-hearted nature often clashes with the more stoic members of the party. Despite her struggles and insecurities, she tries to do the right thing even if it means facing her fears.

7 Wakka – Neutral Good

Blitzball player and guardian, Wakka immediately befriends Tidus when he washes ashore. He even disregards Tidus’ actions when he violates the temple rules, due to his resemblance to his dead brother. Though he was very open to and eagerly accepting of the confused Tidus, he resents the Al Behd for their use of machine weapons blaming them for his brother’s death.

Upon discovering that Rikku is an Al Behd, he is furious that the others kept that from him. He eventually sees his resentment towards Rikku and the other Al Behd is unfounded when he finds out Yuna is also half-Al Behd.

6 Yuna – Lawful Good

A devout follower of the teachings of Yevon, Yuna becomes a summoner to stop Sin. She often places the needs of others above her own, even going so far as to hide her true feelings while encouraging others to express their own. She even agrees to marry Seymour Guado, in the hopes that she could convince him to admit his crimes.

Like many lawful good characters, she has a very high sense of duty, honor, and compassion, however, she does have hesitations and regrets. As she spends more time with Tidus during the pilgrimage, she becomes more vocal and questions the teachings she once followed.

5 Lulu – Lawful Neutral

Being present during the pilgrimages of two previous summoners, and failing to save one of them, Lulu tried to dissuade Yuna from pursuing the same path. When that didn’t work she became Yuna’s guardian, to protect Yuna from Sin.

Throughout the journey, she lectures Wakka about his attachment to Tidus. This would cause him to go against his better judgment. The voice of reason within the group, she also took time to teach Tidus about the customs and traditions in Spira.

4 Kimahri Ronso – Lawful Neutral

In Final Fantasy X Scenario Ultimania “Kimahri’s Story,” fans learn that Kimahri has been constantly bullied and disgraced. This resulted in him leaving his tribe behind and meeting a dying Auron. At Auron’s request, Kimhari takes Yuna to Besaid, meeting and protecting Yuna gave his life purpose again.

He distrusts Tidus, who easily disregards customs and can get close to Yuna instantly. After Seymour attempts to marry Yuna, Kimahri puts Yuna’s safety before tradition and assists Tidus in rescuing her.

3 Seymour Guado – Chaotic Evil

Wanting to become Sin so he could destroy the world and “release” the Spirans from their suffering, Seymour is as chaotic evil as an antagonist can be. He goes as far as killing his father to become the Maester of Yevon.

Seymour even attempts to trick Yuna into marrying him so he can take her power. He even captures her guardians and uses them as hostages to make Yuna comply. Players are even able to temporarily play as Seymour before he reveals his true intentions and his murder spree continues.

2 Yunalesca – Lawful Evil

Yunalesca is a non-playable character and the final antagonist in Final Fantasy X. She is the first summoner and driven by her desire to stop Sin finds a way to dispose of Sin temporarily. This results in her death and places the world of Spira in an endless cycle of calm and destruction.

Her spirit greets summoners at the end of their journey, where they must now sacrifice one of their guardians so that she can begin the cycle again. When Yuna refuses to sacrifice a guardian, Yunalesca attacks the party and is ultimately defeated. Her spirit fades and she curses the party for dooming the world, despite her method only providing false hope.

1 Jecht – Chaotic Good

Tidus’ father and star Blitzball player, Jecht, much like Tidus is pulled into the world of Spira by Sin. At the end of his journey, he sacrificed himself to become an Aeon, knowing that he would never see his family again. Jecht and Braska are able to defeat Sin, however, it possesses Jecht and his traps his soul in the core of Sin for ten years.

As Sin, he brings Auron and Tidus to Spira, in perhaps the most chaotic good power move ever devised. Jecht hoped that Tidus would be able to successfully complete the same journey and destroy Sin once and for all. Jecht willingly sacrifices himself not once, but twice throughout his journey in hopes of saving Spira.
