As Bungie gears up for Destiny 2‘s new expansion, Beyond Light, players are doing their best to finish out the current Season of Arrivals and catch up on the game’s weekly Interference missions. While players collect the last pieces of information through dialogue with Eris Morn, some users have found a clever way to quickly catch up with Destiny 2‘s ongoing storyline so far.
While going through the Interference mission with a friend, Reddit user Pwnda123 discovered that completing Destiny 2‘s Interference mission allowed his friend to unlock the lore that he had missed from Eris, who went through the dialogue from previous weeks to the present day. The Destiny 2 player discovered this trick while trying to fix a problem with the fourteenth Interference mission, which is not unlocking the appropriate lore entry upon completion.
According to the Reddit post, if two players (one who has completed the weekly missions so far, and one who has not) complete Destiny 2‘s Interference mission cooperatively, the player with missing dialogue will be able to keep speaking with Eris until she has run through all the dialogue from previous weeks in reverse order. Pwnda123’s tactic will also allow players to unlock all of the Singular Exegete Lore book entries so far. However, this helpful advice unfortunately did not unlock the latest lore entry, which remains missing for Pwnda123 and other players.
Initial responses pointed out that Destiny 2 players did not need a friend in order to catch up on the Interference mission’s lore this way. Several Reddit users shared their experiences with re-completing the mission alone and unlocking old lore that way. One specific response pointed out that the 500-second post-mission timer existed so that players could catch up on the lore they might have missed in the midst of the action.
Regarding the Reddit user’s initial dilemma, others believe that the missing lore might be due to Destiny 2‘s Means to an End quest. If a player is behind on a weekly quest, the game will have the player complete earlier activities and unlock the lore entries from earlier weeks before allowing them to catch up. Other users corroborated this with their own advice, which told players to delete their character’s older quests and “start fresh” in order to unlock Eris’ latest lore.
Hopefully, if players are still unable to catch up on Destiny 2’s ongoing storyline, Bungie will step in to provide a patch or explanation for its fanbase. Overall, however, with Beyond Light delayed until November, Destiny 2 will be able to find a solution and update its players in order to bring its current plots, including the Tree of Silver Wings storyline to a close.
Destiny 2 is available now for PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One, with PS5 and Xbox Series X versions also in development.
