Since the reveal of the Xbox Series X in December 2019, Xbox gamers have been abuzz with excitement about the new console. However, excitement isn’t the only thing future players have to offer about the new design of the Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S models.
With the price leak and confirmation of the Series S today, it seems appropriate to commemorate this moment with memes. The new Xbox Series designs have been lightly and playfully “roasted” on the internet, earning chuckles from gamers and non-gamers alike.
Although the Xbox Series S is impressive for being the smallest Xbox to date, it’s hard to deny that its design can be compared to quite a few other inanimate objects. In this instance, a radio—complete with a dial.
The radio comparison doesn’t stop there. Nowadays, if John Cusack was trying to win back Ione Skye, it’s entirely possible he’d triumphantly carry an Xbox Series S to her window instead of a boombox. They could curl up and play a romantic multiplayer game of Halo Infinite or anything available on Game Pass.
Others have seen a different household appliance in the design of the Series S, and a washing machine is right up there with the stereo.
The speaker resemblance will never cease, but this one Twitter user has noticed the similarity between the new Xbox Series S and a drive-thru speaker. It looks fitting right outside a Taco Bell.
Xbox players can have a full speaker system between the Xbox Series S and Series X consoles. Two Series S speakers plus a Series X sideways subwoofer would be a pricey sound system, that’s for sure.
When it comes to the Xbox Series X, there are a few different objects it can be compared to. As many have noted, it bears quite a striking resemblance to the monolith featured in 2001: A Space Odyssey. However, it goes without saying that the Series X will not influence man-apes to utilize bones as weaponry.
PlayStation and Xbox have come out with some interesting console designs for the next generation of gaming. While both are household essentials, which will gamers choose? The refrigerator or the modem?
Clearly, there’s something to be said about Xbox’s design choices for their consoles. The first generation was a flat console, followed by upright, to laid down, to . . . now stood up again. If this trend follows, it won’t be hard to guess what the next generation of Xbox console will do.
Where PlayStation has stuck to a numerical system of naming next-gen consoles, Xbox has taken a different approach. Now, the names are repetitive and similar, which has already led to some confusion. Hopefully, this doesn’t lead to mishaps of a loved one getting the “Xbox One X” instead of the “Xbox Series X” for Christmas this year.
Wall-Xbox Series X and EVEStation 5 would be an interesting concept for a Wall-E sequel, that’s for sure. While Disney executives won’t pick up this story anytime soon, it’s still a hilarious meme for everyone, gamer or not.
