Fortnite Stark Industries Update Adds New Hero Powers and More

Despite all of the negativity surrounding an ongoing legal battle with Apple and Google, Epic Games has managed to find even more success in the latest team up with Marvel. The Nexus War crossover arrived in this latest season of Fortnite, bringing iconic Marvel heroes like Iron Man and Wolverine into the massively popular Battle Royale. With new heroes like Silver Silver arriving in a recent update, Epic Games continues to evolve the experience with the latest update from Stark Industries.

The Stark Industries update, named after Tony Stark’s lucrative tech company, appropriately brings all sorts of new content into the game for Fortnite players to check out. As seen in the trailer, players can find abilities scattered around the map, giving them access to heroic abilities from various Marvel heroes. This includes summoning a tornado to launch nearby foes, slam the ground with what appears to be Hulk gauntlets, and boost into the sky using Iron Man tech.

These added abilities should come in handy as Galactus is finally making his presence felt. While the massive villain continues his approach to the island, his drones now roam the battlefield. While not hostile, these drones instead collect loot, essentially turning them into moving treasure chests. When players defeat them, they also turn into a weapon that can be used, but will explode if not picked up in a certain amount of time.

In addition to new tech and other content, the update also adds the famous location into the game. Players can explore the facility and loot it as expected. Epic even promises that players may run into a certain hero and villain as well.

The last addition as part of the Stark Industries Update is a brand new game mode called Marvel Knockout. As Epic describes it, this is a variation on the Operation: Knockout game mode that instead has teams use super powers to eliminate the competition and be the last one standing.

Fortnite has never been shy about bringing pop culture items and characters into the game from well known properties like Star Wars, DC Comics, to other franchises like Borderlands and John Wick. However, this Marvel event feels different from past ones thanks to constant updates and changes to the map as well as the fact that Marvel has used this opportunity to actually tie the events in game to comic book stories. Fans have seen references in a few different stories like Wolverine as well as Thor.

Fortnite is available now on PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One, with PS5 and Xbox Series X versions in development.
