Jason Mamoa Expresses Support for Ray Fisher in Warner Bros. Investigation

The conflict between Ray Fisher and Warner Bros. continues on, as others begin to get involved and weigh in one way or another. The actor, who played Cyborg in Justice League, kicked off a controversy when he alleged that he suffered an abusive work environment during the filming of the movie at the hands of Joss Whedon and enabled by Geoff Johns and Jon Berg, who were also involved in the production. Recently, Jason Momoa has taken to social media in support of his colleague, tagging a picture of the actor with “IStandWithRayFisher.”

Ray Fisher quickly shared the post with his followers on twitter writing “Accountability>Entertainment.” The allegations from Fisher began with the statement that Whedon engaged in behavior on set that was “gross, abusive, unprofessional, and completely unacceptable.” Whedon himself declined to comment on the matter at the time, and until now, none of the other lead actors in the film had taken a stance on the issue.

All of this comes as tensions continue to mount between Fisher and Warner Bros. After the initial allegations, Warner Bros. announced an investigation into the claims, and Fisher responded: “I believe this investigation will show that Geoff Johns, Joss Whedon, Jon Berg (and others) grossly abused their power during the uncertainty of AT&T’s merger with Time Warner.” However, very recently, Warner Bros. stated publicly that Fisher was refusing to cooperate with the third party investigator that they had hired. In response, Fisher stated that he had spoken to the investigator briefly, but wished to consult his own legal team before proceeding.

Fisher also expanded on his allegations recently, claiming that Geoff Johns, the former DC Entertainment president, made “veiled threats” against his career. Johns also allegedly suggested that a different actor would play Cyborg in a separate television show. The actual truth of the matter will of course, have to be left to the investigators and each side’s legal team. For the time being, it is difficult to tell how much this controversy will impact the DC cinematic universe. It has not seemed to impact the creation of Zack Snyder’s re-cut of Justice League, but it is still unclear whether DC has any plans for future films featuring Cyborg, or if Ray Fisher will return to the character.
