Ahead of the second Ubisoft Forward digital presented this Thursday, Ubisoft has confirmed that the anticipated naval combat game, Skull and Bones will not be present as it undergoes some significant changes in a rebooted development.
In a blog post by creative director Elisabeth Pellen, Skull and Bones was confirmed to be reshaped in a new vision. The game is said to be much grander is scope and requiring more time to develop. Though the game will not be at the digital event, Ubisoft indicated Skull and Bones will be shown again in the near future and be worth the wait.
The second Ubisoft Forward event will be filled with announcements of new games and updates on known ones. The first event revealed the existence of Far Cry 6 so an update to the game is expected as it nears its February 2021 release date. Ubisoft has promised some surprises so its possible that new IP is revealed at the event as well.
Among the announcements expected at the event is a return of Immortals: Fenyx Rising, formally known as Gods & Monsters. Immortals: Fenyx Rising is an open-world game with a Greek mythology influence, developed by Ubisoft Quebec who last worked on another Greek inspired title, Assassin’s Creed Odyssey. The game features a graphic style akin to Nintendo’s own Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.
Meanwhile recent reports from Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier indicate that a reboot of Prince of Persia will be revealed at the Ubisoft Forward digital event this Thursday. The Prince of Persia series has not seen a console entry in 10 years with the last release being Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands in 2010. Since then, the series has been relegated to mobile devices and VR experiences.
Skull and Bones is currently in development.
