Destiny 2 is well known for its multiple in-game challenge formats, taking players through Solo quests, PvE collaborations, and PvP wars. A recent addition to the slew of quests, though, has players aimlessly scrambling across Io in search of a starting line.
Since early July, Destiny 2 players have been able to assist Zavala by taking on the “Exodus” (and now, “Evacuation”) questline. The series of challenges has tasked players with generally facilitating the evacuation of Io, Mars, Mercury, and Titan, before the planets ultimately enter Destiny‘s Content Vault. This week’s update finally extends Exodus: Preparation into Exodus: Evacuation, and allows players a chance to earn the valuable Traveler’s Chosen Exotic sidearm.
Once players accept the Exodus: Evacuation quest from Zavala, they will proceed through several tasks before arriving at the “Double Blind” step. This portion of the “Exodus: Evacuation” challenge requires the completion of the (Heroic) Unexpected Guests Adventure, which takes place on Io. Although the notorious PvE Adventures are normally triggered by finding and interacting with a physical spot on the planet/map in question, it seems that Bungie felt differently about its Unexpected Guests.
The Unexpected Guests Heroic Adventure is simply accessible via the Director’s Destinations menu. Players wandering around Io for a totem to interact with will find that there’s no way to trigger the quest from Io itself, so simply open up Io on the Destinations tab, look just above Pyramidion, and select the Adventure from there. Needless to say, this isn’t a great example of the solid UI/UX design in Destiny. Players suspect that Bungie made this Adventure available as a “destination” simply because it would otherwise require players to unlock Io’s Heroic Adventures first, which would be an unsavory grind.
With this small tip in mind, players can easily kick-off the Unexpected Guests Heroic Adventure if they haven’t already, and proceed through the rest of the “Exodus: Evacuation” quests. Once all four planets are successfully evacuated, players can return to Zavala to earn the nostalgic Traveler’s Chosen Exotic. This is an Exotic version of the sidearm from Destiny 2‘s first mission, which originally offered few benefits aside from raw damage potential. The Exotic rendition of Traveler’s Chosen allows Guardians to take advantage of the perks “Gathering Light,” and “The Gift of the Traveler,” both of which revolve around strategic use of “Gathering Light” stacks.
Players hoping to revisit old Destiny locales before they’re vaulted would be wise to start enjoying the Exodus/Evacuation quests. By the time players make it to the end of Evacuation, they will have collected a good few classic pieces of equipment, all the while touring four of Destiny‘s notable destinations.
Destiny 2 is available now on PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One, with PS5 and Xbox Series X versions also in development.
