Here’s What Comes in the PlayStation 5 Box | Game Rant

Now that Microsoft has revealed the Xbox Series X price and release date, PlayStation fans are becoming even more impatient to learn more about Sony’s next-generation console. Unfortunately, Sony still has yet to announce the PS5 release date or price at the time of this writing, but we now know what exactly comes in both the PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 5 Digital Edition boxes.

This information comes from Senior Analyst at Niko Partners Daniel Ahmad, who shared an image on Twitter of PlayStation 5 model numbers and box contents. Ahmad noted that the information was from a Hong Kong distributor, so it’s possible the PS5 boxes will come with other things in different regions. Of course, it’s also possible that the content in the boxes will be the same no matter where players purchase the PS5 console.

In any case, it seems that both the PlayStation 5 and the PS5 Digital Edition boxes will include the console itself, a wireless DualSense controller, a base, 825 GB SSD, an HDMI cable, an AC power cord, a USB cable (likely to charge the controller), and an instruction manual. Furthermore, all PlayStation 5 consoles will come pre-installed with Astro’s Playroom, a game from Sony’s Japan Studio that’s designed to show off the DualSense controller’s unique capabilities.

In a followup tweet, Ahmad said that he “accidentally” cropped the price from the image. It’s possible that Ahmad was just joking with this statement, but it’s also possible that the original image did indeed have the PS5 and PS5 Digital Edition price points listed. If so, one has to imagine that Sony could be making the official PS5 price announcement sooner rather than later.

Previously, industry insiders have indicated that Sony plans on announcing the PS5 and PS5 Digital Edition price points at some point in early September. Whether or not that’s true remains to be seen, but if it is, then fans should be able to expect the official announcement early next week.

As for what the PS5 price could be, that also remains to be seen. There were reports that Sony slashed the PS5 price in response to the Xbox Series X and Series S price announcements. If those reports are accurate, then the PS5 price will be $499, and the PS5 Digital Edition will retail for $399. This would be put the PlayStation 5 systems more or less in line with how much the Xbox consoles cost, with the PS5 Digital Edition being just $100 more expensive than the Series S console.

Hopefully Sony has more concrete information to share soon so the rumors and speculation can come to an end.
