Pokemon GO: All Mega Battle Challenge Timed Research Tasks and Rewards

Starting at 8:00 AM on September 11th, 2020 to 10:00 PM on September 17th, 2020 in players’ local times, Pokemon GO is holding the Mega Battle Challenge event which encourages players to use their Mega Evolved Pokemon in battle. If players win 275 million battles with their Mega Evolved Pokemon during this event, players will gain access to Mega Houndoom in Mega Raids.

This Pokemon GO event additionally contains special timed research tasks that players can complete for a variety of rewards. These challenges encourage participating in the various battles available in-game as well as provide easier access to Mega Energy.

Players will only have access to these timed research tasks for as long as the Mega Battle Challenge event is active. During this time, there are additional exclusive field research tasks that players can gain access to via spinning Pokestops.

There are a total of four tiers of Mega Battle Challenge timed research tasks. The first group of tasks consists of:

  • Battle in a Raid – 3 Revives
  • Catch 7 Bug-type Pokemon – 5 Pokeballs
  • Power up Pokemon 7 Times – 1 Upgrade

Completing this first section will award players with 35 Beedrill Mega Energy, 500 Stardust, and 1000 XP.

The second group of tasks consists of:

  • Battle in a Raid – 3 Revives
  • Battle in a Mega Raid – 3 Golden Razz Berries
  • Battle Another Trainer – 1 Sinnoh Stone

Completing the second section will award players with 40 Beedrill Mega Energy, 1000 Stardust, and 2000 XP.

The third group of tasks consists of:

  • Battle in 3 Raids – Pinsir Encounter
  • Battle 3 Team GO Rocket Grunts – 5 Revives
  • Mega Evolve a Pokemon – 3 Silver Pinap Berries

Completing the third section will award players with 60 Beedrill Mega Energy, 1000 Stardust, and 2000 XP.

The fourth and final group of tasks have no challenge attached to them and are just rewards that players can claim. They are:

There is a lot to take advantage of with this event. This includes the increased spawn rates of various species of bug-type Pokemon and the newly added shiny forms for both Ledyba and Ledian. It is highly recommended for players to take part in battles with Mega Evolved Pokemon so that the goal of 275 million battles can be reached. While it’s unlikely that Mega Houndoom won’t be released at all if the goal isn’t reached, it could take longer if players don’t complete enough battles.

Players will have until 10:00 PM on September 17th in their local times to participate in this event. This means that there is plenty of time to complete the tasks and collect the rewards available.

Pokemon GO is available now in select regions on Android and iOS devices.
