Pokemon GO: Best Cresselia Counters | Game Rant

Cresselia is back, trainers, but not for long. Between now and September 18 at 1pm PT Pokemon GO players have another chance to battle against and catch Cresselia. This Gen 4 Legendary is a powerful Psychic-type that is another fan-favorite. The boss is pretty powerful, but has some weaknesses that players will be able to exploit if they take the time to craft the right kind of counter roster.

Keep in mind that Cresselia will be hatching from 5-star Battle Raids for the next week. Pokemon GO players should take some time now to review their counters and make sure they are ready for the fight before heading out or cashing in some Remote Raid passes to battle against the boss with some friends and take advantage of those damage bonuses.

Cresselia is a Psychic-type which means that players are going to want to stack their counter rosters with Ghost-, Dark-, and Bug-type Pokemon. These will be the best counters against Cresselia and, luckily, many of the best choices have been popular Battle Raid counters before and players who frequent the Battle Raid scene will already have a few powered up and ready to go. If not, that’s ok. Players should be able to use some TMs and Rare Candy to assemble the team it will take to easily defeat this boss. Game Rant recommends heading into the raid with at least four other high-level players for the easiest experience. Lower level players will want to bring 6+ trainers to the battle to ensure things go smoothly.

Many of the best counters will be similar to Cresselia’s previous appearance in Battle Raids, but the addition of Mega Evolutions definitely shakes things up. Be sure to note those new options and consider whether they are worth spending some of your hard earned Mega Energy on or if you would rather save it for a different challenger down the line…

Mega Beedrill – Bug Bite/X-Scissor

Giratina (Origin) – Shadow Claw/ Shadow Ball

Mewtwo (Shadow) – Confusion/ Shadow Ball

Charizard (Mega Y) – Fire Spin/Fire Blast

Gengar Shadow Claw/Shadow Ball

Tyranitar – Bite/Crunch

Weavile (Shadow) – Feint Attack/Foul Play

Houndoom – Snarl/Foul Play

Pinsir – Fury Cutter/X Scissor

Scizor- Fury Cutter/X Scissor

Absol – Snarl/Dark Pulse

Sharpedo (Shadow) – Bite/Crunch

That should provide players will plenty of options to pull together a powerful roster for this fight. Keep in mind that the Mega Evolution counters will definitely make things a little easier, but are totally optional. There’s nothing wrong with sticking to the other strong counters if Mega Energy is still in a bit of a shortage for your inventory.

For now, Pokemon GO trainers should be able to head out into the world (or play from home) and continue catching the best Unova Pokemon in the game and getting closer to that complete Pokedex. Check back for more Pokemon GO updates closer to the event. Until then, good luck out there, trainers!

Pokemon GO is available now in select regions on Android and iOS devices.
