Fan Makes Impressive Halo-Themed Xbox Series S Console Concept

Halo fans were delighted this week to find that the newly-revealed Xbox Series S contains a Master Chief Easter egg on its power supply. It’s a neat little nod to the series that’s become synonymous with the Xbox brand, but there is room for Microsoft to extend that to the outside of the console, as one fan mockup shows.

Fans have been having a field day with the official look of the long-rumored budget console. Many have poked fun at the Series S’ design with all sorts of memes, but others have been using it as the canvas for a new wave of custom designs. One of the most prolific among them is graphic artist XboxPope, who recently shared their concept for a Cyberpunk 2077-themed Xbox Series S. And now they’ve turned their attention to Halo with their latest game-themed concept.

Right away, it’s a huge departure from the standard design. Instead of the Xbox Series S’ clean light-grey body and black accents, XboxPope gives fans a console and controller modeled after Master Chief himself, sporting a metallic green and grey pattern based off his iconic MJOLNIR armor, complete with stylishly-placed accents like Chief’s callsign number, 117, and the UNSC logo.

This isn’t the first time XboxPope has dipped their toes in both Halo and next-gen consoles recently. Back in May, they also released a fan design for a Halo-themed Xbox Series X, which also sported a Master Chief theme. Both this and their Series S concept could easily pass as actual products.

It wouldn’t be all too surprising to see the Xbox Series get official Halo-themed models down the line, though Microsoft has yet to touch upon the topic of custom designs for its next-gen consoles. With Halo Infinite being delayed to 2021, however, Microsoft could conceivably mark next year’s launch with Halo-themed consoles releasing alongside the game. While that’s just hypothetical, it could potentially help smooth things over with fans who are frustrated that the Xbox Series’ biggest headliner won’t be launching alongside the Series S and Series X in November.

Despite that, there’ll be plenty of major games launching on or around the Xbox Series’ launch day, including Cyberpunk 2077, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, and Destiny 2: Beyond Light, to name a few. With all of these major titles, it’s also safe to assume that there’ll be at least a few more custom Xbox Series designs from XboxPope and other graphic artists in the weeks to come.

The Xbox Series S and Xbox Series X launch on November 10.
