As part of its PAX Online presentation this weekend, publisher Gearbox Software came with a ton of announcements ready to go. Among them were new details about Risk of Rain 2, more content coming to Borderlands 3 in current-gen and next-gen, and, of course, more info about Gearbox’s upcoming next-gen title, Godfall.
Seeing as Gearbox Software has a few different titles cycling through its catalogue right now, it only makes sense that the company work a little cross-promotion magic. This will manifest in the form of a Godfall pre-order bonus selection that features an iconic Borderlands 3 weapon.
While Borderlands is known for having an inordinate amount of weapons, there are a few static options as well, namely ZER0’s sword. As such, Gearbox is offering the Vault Hunter’s sword as a pre-order bonus for any who purchase Godfall on the Epic Games Store.
The design of the ZER0 sword looks fairly faithful to the Borderlands version, with a glowing blade and metallic black hilt. Whether or not this is purely a cosmetic add-on, or the weapon has any special abilities is unclear but usually, pre-order bonuses try to keep things neutral.
In addition to the ZER0 sword, there are a few other pre-order bonuses for those who pick up Godfall on the Epic Games Store including a starter pack of Augments and Trinkets, Chrome skins for three of the game’s Valorplates, and a yellow Typhon variant. Outside of the starter pack, it seems as though the Godfall pre-order bonuses are mostly cosmetic, so players don’t have to worry about jumping into the game ill-equipped should they buy the game on PS5 or wait until reviews hit.
For purchasing options, there are three different “versions” of Godfall available to pick up with different content add-ons and price points. There is the obvious Godfall standard edition that comes with the pre-order bonuses (if pre-ordered) and retails for $60. The Godfall Deluxe Edition includes the game’s first expansion and is available for $79.99. And finally the Godfall Ascended Edition packs the Deluxe Edition in with some extra digital cosmetics that Gearbox says are “Ascended,” but they look gold.
While all of these pre-order bonuses and different editions of the game are only announced for Epic Games Store, the PS5 version will receive similar bonuses. Presumably, the upcoming PS5 showcase next week will include Godfall and most likely Gearbox will announce its plans for the next-gen console. It’s also possible that Godfall will receive even more content on PS5 since it’s a console exclusive to Sony’s platform but that will have to wait until Wednesday.
Godfall releases holiday 2020 for PC and PS5.
