A teaser trailer for The Origin: Blind Maid has released with a little more information regarding the horror title. Paraguayan developer Waraní Studios takes inspiration from an urban legend in the heart of South America to create a terrifying story. The Origin: Blind Maid will place players in the vast regions of Paraguay, Bolivia, and Argentina known as the Gran Chaco, where the main character will face horrific challenges.
According to Waraní Studios, the player will control a corrupt politician as he attempts to flee Brazil after facing charges. The politician will be forced to face his own demons as well as terrifying beings from South American folklore. Throughout the game description, players will encounter the Blind Maid, an entity with a troubled past. The Blind Maid looks incredibly scary in the teaser trailer and will serve as one of the many horror enemies players will face.
Players will also come in contact with the Karai Vosa, which are deformed creatures that embody psychiatric disorders. It seems as if one of these creatures can be seen floating in the teaser trailer before the mysterious message, “The origin… is the end” appears. The Origin: Blind Maid seems like it will feature more psychological horror, much like the Silent Hill series. Based on the game’s description, players will face tangible enemies, but also fight the mental horrors and evils that haunt the main character.
The Origin: Blind Maid will feature a progression element where the player can improve the physical, mental, and spiritual strength to survive. Although not much information is known about character progression, the game’s developers have stated that gameplay will be explained further closer to launch. It seems The Origin: Blind Maid will take a fairly unique approach to horror games with the South American folklore, the rugged environments of the Gran Chaco.
The first-person horror game will require stealth, but will also feature combat with various firearms. Although there has been no gameplay released, it seems the game will feature a mixture of gameplay elements that will keep players on their toes. Although not much is known about the length of the game, developers have shared that the game is broken into five chapters, all filled with horror and a survival struggle from the start.
Although the game is scheduled for early 2021, as of now, it is not planned for next-gen, despite the Xbox Series X being confirmed for November 10, with the PlayStation 5 expected to release around the same time. As the release date for The Origin: Blind Maid gets closer, more gameplay information will be released and perhaps a plan for Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5 ports will be announced.
The Origin: Blind Maid is currently in development.
